Meet Erica Ballesteros of The Change Project in Queen Creek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Ballesteros.

Erica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have spent the last 14+ years in Recruiting & Training & Development and really got my thirst for studying the art of human dynamics, hiring sales representative for eight years straight in my early 20s. The company was rich in personal/professional development as they aimed to help people conquer their fears and overcome the battles they faced when dealing with constant rejection. I realized the impact our mindset had on the level of success reps achieved and how our ceiling of potential would increase when we leaned on the strengths and guidance of others around us.

When I transitioned into a role that was exclusively training & development in 2016, I started facilitating courses with business professionals, leaders, and entrepreneurs that transformed my understanding of all that is limits us in life. It was a complete paradigm shift watching people grow and give themselves permission to live through these 12-week programs that literally expanded what we believed was possible as they pushed through limiting barriers to realize more of the potential they housed.

As I continued to watch people grow and expand their own levels of success and achievement, I got an itch to mold and create my own baby. I launched The Change Project because I have a passion that roars inside of me to make a positive difference in this world and help people enjoy the richest quality of life possible. I don’t want to just talk about the change I want to see in this world, I want to legit drive it… as in pedal to the metal!

There is nothing more beautiful to me than to see people discover how to live a life with more fulfillment, satisfaction, and achievement. Whether I’m working with students, parents, educators, or business professionals, I aspire to help them discover how to utilize their unique strengths and develop positive success habits that position them to perform at their highest level and wake up excited to be alive. If I can help bridge the gap between what is limiting them and see them tap into more of their potential, my soul is stirred.

This is what lead me to launching a workforce development training course within our local high schools that even just the pilot launch with 14 total participants created more growth than I ever imagined or have observed in any adult class I have led. It has been the highlight of my professional career and has inspired me to do and drive harder to impact more of our youth in a meaningful and impactful way.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This is an interesting question as I have found both through my own journey and witnessing others, that the greatest gifts we receive that catapulted growth come from the obstacles and hurdles life casts our way.

I suffered from a really gnarly depression last year that was killing me. Here I was at the helm of facilitating courses that were designed to help relieve people from the pain they carried to enjoy higher levels of success and yet I was carrying bigger weights than I ever wanted to bare. I knew what I needed to do in my personal life and I finally cast away the emotional vampire that was sucking my soul dry but even professionally, despite loving what I did, I started to feel conflict, and a lack of trust that rocked my soul as that is one of my strongest values.

Since going out on my own, I can share that it has been a snowball of awesome. I work my buns off literally more than ever in my career, and I most definitely feel overwhelmed from time to time, but in just the seven months since launching this business, I have experienced more success, more love, more support, more accolades than ever before. It is the epitome of finding alignment with what our inner beings try to tell us, try to guide us to in life to reach our true potential yet we often stand like a brick wall in our own way. I keep up with my success habits, and all of my results-producing activities, meditate like never before and silence any noise in my head that could possibly result in fear or doubt. I am the creator of my own reality, and I choose to melt into my awesomeness on the daily!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Change Project – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
