Meet Diana Menendez of Accentuated in Old Town Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Menendez.

Diana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began threading about 9 years ago at a mall kiosk. Throughout that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work for several companies that have helped me grow and become the professional threader I am today. As I perfected my eyebrow shaping technique, my love for threading grew.

In March 2016, I decided I was ready to start my own business. I took the leap, left my job and started to work from the comfort of my own home. Unfortunately, due to my agreement with my employer at the time, I was not allowed to inform my clients of my decision and had to rebuild my clientele. But that was OK! It was a small obstacle I would not let hold me back.

As my business began getting busier, I decided I wanted to offer my clients more. In June 2016 I became certified in Microblading. It was the perfect addition to my business. My clients know I take pride in my work and aim to enhance their natural beauty. Microblading lets me do just that!

In Nov 2016, I felt it was time to find a more convenient location for my clients. I began searching for a studio salon and created my business Accentuated LLC.

I have been blessed to find a great location in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, inside the “Hair on Fifth Avenue” salon.

Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part, my professional journey has been a smooth one. If I had to name an obstacle, it would probably be not being able to inform loyal customers of mine of my decision to work from home, therefore, being forced to rebuild my clientele

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Accentuated – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am known to have a keen eye for eyebrow shaping. The brows are the most important feature on one’s face. They are what frame one’s face and flatter one’s eyes.

Whether someone has very full eyebrows that need shaping, or thinner/sparse eyebrows that need Microblading, my goal is to enhance my client’s beauty by giving them the eyebrow thickness, length and shape that best suites their face.

I think what sets me apart is wanting my clients to look natural. Not like they have had they brows “tattooed” on. I want them to have others compliment what beautiful eyebrows they have and to have other in disbelief when they share it is in fact tattooed.

What I am most proud of is my work and how my work makes a difference in my client’s self esteem. Seeing my clients walk out of the salon feeling confident, beautiful and sexy is extremely rewarding.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I have to admit the scenery in Phoenix AZ is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

There is always some fun activity to do with the family on the weekends, whether it is hiking a mountain, canoeing at a lake or going to a local festival. We even have the option of taking a few hours drive Las Vegas, Rocky Point or California – which is by far one of my favorite things about Phoenix.

And while I enjoy our hot whether, it can be difficult to convince my east coast family to move to a state with 120 degree summers. Haha!
