Meet Daniel Brown of Myriad at My Home Group in Central Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Brown.

Daniel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I got my real estate license in August of 2007, which was a very unfortunate time to become a Realtor. The housing market was collapsing, and we were on our way to one of the worst recessions since the Great Depression. I witnessed many people lose their jobs, their homes, and some even their families. Phoenix was one of the hardest hit cities in the country with home values on average dropping over 54%. Due to the number of foreclosures these banks needed local help to sell them. It was during this time that I had to develop systems to manage these properties, evaluate neighborhoods, pay the utility bills, and report back to the banks on their inventory. If I didn’t perform at a high level there was a line of people waiting behind me to step in. For the next 4 years I worked night and day selling well over 100 homes with little to no help. I worked very hard to establish quality relationships with the representatives tasked with selling these homes. I became a veteran in the industry very quickly due to the volume of homes I was selling. I experienced so much that there really isn’t a scenario that I haven’t seen or know how to navigate.

During that time not only did I learn what it takes to sell a home, I also learned what happens when enough people don’t stop to think about what they are doing. When individuals have poor representation and when that representation puts their own needs ahead of their clients. I vowed that if I was able to survive this recession and come out on the other side that I would never put my needs ahead of the needs of my clients. That I would educate them on making sound financial decisions and that’s what I’ve done to this day.

When the recession was winding down and Phoenix had gotten through the housing crisis it was 4 years later. In 4 years I had sold over 400 homes, and came out with extensive knowledge and experience. I took this knowledge and experience and focused on helping buyers. It was a wonderful change going from listing and selling bank owned properties to helping families find a home. There was joy in it and I realized that I was helping people achieve the American Dream. The dream wasn’t dead and people wanted a place to call their own. I did that for the next 4 years of my career and absolutely loved it.

Then in 2013, I took that experience and founded my own real estate team called Myriad at My Home Group. I wanted to surround myself with a team who has the work ethic and commitment to our clients that I do. We call ourselves Myriad because we want to help everyone regardless of who they are or where they come from. We want to educate the first time home buyer to the savvy investor. Our mission is to provide a high level of service and operate not in a sales roll, but one of service instead. My passion, my team’s passion, is helping people reach their goals. Help people achieve the American Dream and for them to know that they have a partner they can trust along the way. It’s been an amazing adventure and I’m excited to continue on this path.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a very bumpy road. During my days selling bank owned properties I had to work day and night keeping up with what the bank representatives needed. I was happy to do it because I was busy. It wasn’t glamorous work as many of the homes I was working to list and sell were priced between $10,000 and $75,000, but I was thankful that I was making a living and able to provide. There was no instruction manual during this time, nothing like this had ever happened before. I had to invest systems, I had to pay the utility bills for all of these homes then file for reimbursement. If I was late on anything I risked the banks not paying back what was owed. I had to be thorough, I had to be organized, and I had to be honest.

In running my own team there have been many challenges along the way. The same challenges that all small business owners face along the way. Will I have enough money to pay our bills next month? Fortunately I surround myself with people who are as passionate and driven as I am when it comes to helping people. Everyone on my team understands that on a long enough time line if you do the right thing you’re going to win. It’s something that we all believe in and take to heart.

At Myriad at My Home Group we have over 20 years of combined experience working full time in Phoenix’s real estate market. Our passion is to help people reach their goals and achieving part of the American Dream. We’re passionate about real estate and we’re even more passionate about Phoenix.

We also have an in house digital marketing company that will research your home, and make it stand out on a nationwide marketing campaign. This will include custom photos, videos, drone footage, targeted ads, and more.
