Meet Dana Ramsey of Paint Nite

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Ramsey.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I came across Paint Nite in Baltimore after completing military service in 2013. I was fascinated and met with the local licensee to learn more about coordinated paint parties.

From there I decided to proceed forward with Paint Nite, and selected Phoenix, Arizona as a place to start this new chapter of my life. Taking a huge leap, I purchased a car, packed up what I could, and made the road trip to Phoenix.

Not knowing anything, I was able to stay with a friend for the first month as I got acclimated with the area. Four years later, I’m settled in Phoenix, have a staff of 11 and I coordinate between 70-125 events a month all over Phoenix and its suburbs.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My adventure with Paint Nite has provided me with personal and professional challenges and successes. As with any small business, you find out the hard way how to reinvest, where to purchase supplies, and how best to fairly manage a team.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Paint Nite story. Tell us more about the business.
At Paint Nite Phoenix, we bring creativity and fun to hot spots around the city and in the suburbs. We love being able to partner with local bars and restaurants that we know customers love frequenting. Here in Phoenix, we’re most proud of the lighthearted atmosphere at our painting events and our awesome painting catalog. Our customers regularly comment on how Paint Nite paintings are beautiful and professional than those offered by our competitors.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’d like to think I have good luck. I am a glass-half-full kind of gal and don’t heavily consider luck as a variable in life.
