Hi Cody, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
My name is Cody Newport. I am a lover of all things travel related and the overall experiences one picks up while exploring new regions. I love immersing myself in nature and showing others the land I hold so dear to my heart. I will share insight into my tourism business located in Scottsdale, AZ and my experiences in the tourism industry.
What got you passionate about the industry?
Well my passion started when I worked in the state of Alaska for 5 summers from 2012-2016. I was a guide up there specializing in land travel regarding cruise ships. I was hooked my first couple of weeks doing the job. Traveling and sightseeing for work was amazing to me and being able to share such a wonderous place with tourists was very special to me. I knew immediately this would be my new career path.
How did you get started with this business?
So I started my day tourism business from the ground up. I built 7 tours myself and operated and scouted them out prior to taking guests out. My goal was to build really comfortable tours for my guests. After a thorough scouting process, I got set up with my online presence and started selling on a lot of OTA sites. The massive online presence helped propel my business to where it is today also being highly ranked on TripAdvisor.
What is your favorite place in AZ?
My absolute favorite spot in Arizona is a small mining town called Jerome. It is located on the side of a big mountain and the views are stunning. I love the overall vibe here, laidback with a sense of wonder.
What do you like most about your field?
I like taking people to the most amazing places and seeing their reactions. Especially at spots like Sedona, the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon which are all mesmerizing.
What do you do in your off time?
I like to check out local breweries and new eclectic restaurants. I also love to travel internationally. So, planning my next big adventure consumes a lot of my off time.
What guest expectation do you try to fill on your tours?
I try to fill the sense of excitement. I want them to thoroughly enjoy all aspect of the trip from views, commentary and overall experience.
