Meet Chanell Bell of Based in Philadelphia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanell Bell.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
Babe Company started in 2012 as just a passion for fashion and history and gradually became the business it is today! Growing up, I always wanted to stand out from the crowd, so I would go thrifting and find all sorts of patterned clothing and bags. It was like going on a treasure hunt where I always seemed to find designer gems. As a creative, I would take some of the things I bought and revamp them by stitching the fabric onto existing clothing and designing looks. Babe Has expanded to provide services including photography, Interior design, styling, and more! Our products are sourced all over the US from different locations and people. The mission is to spread sustainability awareness while being innovative and creative.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some challenges I’ve faced along the way would be not taking the time to work through the small details at the beginning stages. That would include the research needed for expansion, product storage/restoration knowledge, preparation of supply and demand, and the time and energy required for marketing and promotion if done alone. I’m sure I can speak for many people when I say everything that comes with being an entrepreneur is a forever learning process but rewarding nonetheless. Running a business requires patience, strength, awareness, dedication, and a positive outlook on life. Especially when things don’t go as planned, during the beginning, I’ve learned that proper planning can do wonders for your business. Even when it comes to preparing yourself for what it would look like if you were to gain more clientele or provide additional services/goods. Something that I always say is to “Question everything.” It can help in so many ways! Asking questions like “how much will require more time if I have x more about of orders per week?” “How is each item supposed to be stored ?” These simple questions can save you the time and trouble of loosing a product due to damage or lack of space and not being able to reach desired fulfillment because of time management.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My name is Chanell bell, and I’ve been a creative all my life! I’ve grown up doing everything involving the arts and fashion that it’s second nature to me. I create custom clothing/wearable art, digital art illustrations, body products, home goods like upcycled furniture or hand-poured candles, and collecting and selling pieces of history. I’m best known for being multitalented and providing many products and services like real estate photography and personal styling. I’ve expanded my horizon by taking my business brand and practices during my Travels. I aim to make Babe Company Global while supporting local businesses that stand out by vlogging and photographing my travel/lifestyle experience as an influencer.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check?
My favorite book would be “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. I’ve chosen this book because it’s a blueprint for success in the simplest form. Dreams do become a reality, and the self-work and dedication to the process can start off as simple as a written or spoken affirmation. The key is to believe
