Meet Cerila Gailliard of Orchestrating Your Success (OYS)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cerila Gailliard.

Cerila, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2003, I was pursuing my undergraduate degree at the University of Phoenix in Information Technology. In my very last class, the teacher gave the class an assignment. The assignment was to answer the question, Where do you see yourself in five years? When it was time to present, I told the class in five years, I see myself working as a project management consultant.

After I graduated, I worked for various corporations in Information Technology, Manufacturing and Finance. In 2007, I was presented with an opportunity to work as a project manager for a fortune 500 corporation. I worked there leading and executing various projects around the world.

In 2014, I passed the exam to become a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI). I knew then it was time for me to start my own business and fulfill my dream of becoming a project management consultant. In December 2014, I started my own business and “Orchestrating Your Success (OYS) LLC” was born.

Even though I had started my own business, it was not time for me to quit my day job. I continued to work full-time and manage my business on the side. Towards the end of 2016, I knew it was time to quit my job and go full-time into my business if I wanted to take my business to the next level. I knew it was a big risk for me, but I was ready to take the risk.

So, I wrote down the date I was going to quit my job, June 30, 2017. However, on June 9, 2017, I was told I was being laid off. I jumped into my business with both feet and never looked back. “If it is meant to be, the goal does not die, it waits for the perfect time to reveal itself” – Cerila Gailliard

Understanding your target market is key to success. I changed my target market after I found out my services were needed, but they were not willing to pay for my services.  Doing your research upfront on your target market is key. This dictates how I network and the opportunities I pursue for my business.
