Meet Brian Jordan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Jordan.

Brian, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My grandfather who recently passed ran a very successful video and photo business off word of mouth. He employed his family members including my parents when they were in their 20’s. I remember seeing that as I grew up and often, I would help out when my parents would videotape an event gig going on. I always been around cameras in my younger days. As I grew into my teenage years, I got to a point where I asked myself, “What do I desire doing? Despite getting paid for it or not?” It took some time and a lot of effort to drown out the noise from the outside world and influence to get the answer from within. Photography kept coming to my mind even when I tried to deny it, so I went with it. I’m 22 now and I am very grateful I decided to go this path in life as a full-time photographer being able to travel the country. It took years of practice to perfect my craft to where it is now.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Overall it has been a smooth road to where I’m at now, but I definitely hit some bumps along the way. I had to learn to deal with rejection over the years because it messed with my confidence. I learned that it’s just part of the game no matter how good you are. I now look at it as a learning opportunity. I thank all my supportive friends and family members for helping me stay strong and helping become the person I am today. It was worth it.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I own a photography business called “Brian The Shooter”. I primarily shoot portraits, headshots, street, Cars and events but I’m mostly known for my portraits and street photography. I’m most proud about how the business grew in all aspects over the last three years. Production, network and efficiency. I believe the thing that sets me apart from others is my patience and understanding with my clients. I know how to capture exactly what they want and I know how to boost one’s self-esteem during the photoshoot while getting the job done quickly.

What were you like growing up?
I was very energetic and played lots of sports like baseball, soccer, track and basketball. I always been an creative person since childhood. I was able to draw & sketch my favorite cartoon characters and tell stories. Now that I think of it, I’m not surprised that I ended up doing photography & video as a profession.
