Today we’d like to introduce you to Belen and Jared Sessions.
Belen and Jared, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We are the creators of Sessions Events! We have known each other since 2013 and got married in June 2018. Our business started with planning our own wedding which was a lot of fun! We wanted our pieces to be unique and affordable. It was very difficult to find pieces that were one of a kind and a lot of rentals were very out of our budget. We decided to build our own wedding pieces and set up ourselves for our wedding! After our wedding, a lot of our family and friends mentioned to us that we had a talent for the wedding industry. A month later, we decided to create Sessions Events where we started out with about three total pieces in our inventory. Our first wedding was booked in September 2018 in Payson, Arizona. Ever since, we have been loving the experience of working together as business partners and creators!
Today, we have done over 50 weddings and have over 20 pieces in our inventory!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting our business at age 19 was a dream come true, although it wasn’t always easy. Being so young, we didn’t know people wouldn’t take us seriously or trust us. Our only portfolio we had was the Instagram page we started with the few pictures of our wedding we posted. It took three of our clients to trust us and that is when our business became to grow! It was such an exciting time, we started to design more pieces and style them at styled shoots. We grew our portfolio and it allowed us to gain a lot more experience. The biggest struggle for us was finding our worth. We set up for several weddings where we didn’t make profit and sometimes even lost money but it was all worth it. Knowing the worth of your business is very important and could be a challenging find. The difficult times will only make your business stronger!
Please tell us about your business.
Sessions Events is an event rental and design company created on July 8, 2018. Weddings are what we specialize in, although, we have rented out pieces for birthdays, bridal showers, and baby showers! The main pieces in our inventory are ceremonial arches. Our wooden arches come in so many different designs which are perfect for the bride that wants to be unique. Some of our other statement pieces include our wooden tables, benches, donut walls, and yard games. Our business loves to give back to our clients and future client where we host several giveaways and promotions throughout the year. Our collection is always growing which sets us apart from others. We bring in new designs throughout the year and help our clients get the best quality and price.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Our difficulties only made us a better company but if we had to start over, we would have published our website sooner and shared our business cards with local wedding shops. We started out with sharing our business on Facebook and Instagram which brought us clients but once we published our website and had referrals, our business grew so much.
