Meet Ashley Shaw of Honey&Shaw in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Shaw.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started getting into wedding planning & floral design after I planned my own wedding! I completely fell in love with creating beautiful celebrations! I have a background in fashion design, cosmetology, yoga, nutrition and retail management. I lived in San Francisco for a year and I love to travel! I feel that my background heavily contributes to my success in the industry.

I am still fairly new to weddings but I truly feel blessed to have found what I am meant to do with my life. Honey&Shaw is a 3 part company Wedding Planning + Event Styling + Floral Design! Florals are our favorite part of course 🙂

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With creating a business, it is never as easy as it may seem. Some of my biggest challenges have been creating opportunities for myself. Create a business without the help of any investors or business partners. I am a full-time server. All my money right now that doesn’t go towards personal bills or gas and groceries is funneling into creating a successful business for myself. Without my serving position, I would be lost and without a business.

Please tell us about Honey&Shaw.
At Honey&Shaw, we craft weddings for the creative, urban couple, and fulfill the vision of their dream wedding! I love all things weddings. Planning and florals are my greatest accomplishments in life, they are my creative outlet and challenge my mind to always find new beauty in each wedding! Gluten free planning and food allergies are my specialty! Floral design is one of my favorite parts of creating a wedding. We are a three part company Wedding Planning + Event Styling + Floral Design. I Feel that being able to offer an all-encompassing package is what makes me proud. I know I am giving my couples a convenience that isn’t offered everywhere. I would say our style and my personality and who I am is what sets us apart from others. Nobody else is me, nobody else has my style, my vibe or my personality and it’s something that I value largely in myself. I wish more people in the world felt that way about themselves. Being proud of my own personality is huge for me. Being comfortable to say hey, we don’t really vibe, or hey I feel like my styles may not meet yours, maybe you should reach out to this planner… They might be a better fit for you. Or on the flip side. Hey, we are going to make this wedding phenomenal and totally true to you because I get your vision, we are on the same page!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I grew up living on a county island in the middle of Flagstaff. So we didn’t have a lot of neighbors but we did have a lot of land. Growing up in a big family was so much fun! I am the youngest of 4, 2 older brothers and 1 older sister. We all played in the woods together growing up. We were outdoor kids for sure. I loved it and being the baby of 4 was also really fun. I have 2 amazing older brothers who look out for me still to this day and my mom and I are best friends and always have been.

My favorite memories of being a kid are memories of hanging out with my mom. Helping her cook, going to the store together, watching movies and T.V series together. Laughing and being goofy. I can’t express how amazing it was to grow up laughing and being silly with my family. Every time my mom and I would drive through Taco Bell, we would end up laughing hysterically for no reason at all. My parents were/ are both successful individual entrepreneurs and they always made time for us. They were always home when we were home, they were always around when we needed them and that is something that I hope to be able to pass down to my kids. We were able to go to their offices with them, and they had the flexibility to be with us whenever we needed.
