Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Richards and Michelle Berryman.
Two local moms and entrepreneurs partnered to create Desert Moms Blog, a website and social media presence that showcases over a dozen writers from throughout the Valley. The blog covers topics ranging from parenting and relationships to fitness, nutrition, style, travel, finances, and work.
Ashley Richards, fourth generation Arizonan, and Michelle Berryman, a transplant from the Midwest, are the site’s founders. Both have a background in marketing and media and have a shared passion for community, celebration, and raising their families here in the Valley.
Ashley is an Arizona native and is married to her stud husband, Brandon. Together they have two crazy adorable kids; Ellie who is 3 1/2 and Eli who is 2. When Ashley is not chasing and cuddling her kids, or hiking mountains with her Husband, she focuses on her career as an entrepreneur as a Digital Marketing expert. Ashley has over ten years of experience in digital marketing- helping a variety of businesses with graphic design, online marketing, social media advertising, and blogging.
Ashley’s favorite way to relax is with a good book and a bubble bath. She enjoys family walks with her Rottweiler, watching the Bachelor/Bachelorette with her Husband, and really good Mexican food. Ashley has enjoyed being entrenched in the motherhood community both in person and in the online community and is thrilled to bring a passion and a dream to life in creating Desert Moms Blog.
Michelle is a Wisconsin native but fell in love with Arizona long before they even moved to Scottsdale in 2014. Sunshine and saguaros run deep in her veins, and she can’t envision life without the mountains! She and her husband have two sweet children, Graham 5 1/2 and Shea 1 1/2, both precious gifts through adoption. She spent ten years in PR before launching into the daunting, yet exhilarating world of entrepreneurship. She eventually traded in her e-commerce business for a position as a stay-at-home mom and freelance business and marketing consultant.
She’s savored the slower pace of life, and extra snuggles, adventures, and belly laughs with her family but is excited about turning a passion and dream into a reality with Desert Moms Blog. Michelle has a heart for connecting with and encouraging other women, especially moms, and she thrives on diving into the difficult and sifting through it to uncover the silver lining.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We are beyond grateful for a fun and exciting journey that has led us to here! Although some minor challenges with a new business, it has taken off without a hitch and has already exceeded our expectations, and it has only been live and active for a little over a month!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Desert Moms Blog – what should we know?
Desert Moms Blog isn’t just a place to get information but serves as a forum for moms to connect and help empower, support, and inspire one another.
The goal at Desert Moms Blog is to connect and encourage the mom community here in the Valley through all their walks and stages of life—from bringing that sweet bundle of joy home from the hospital, to balance all that life throws at her in the school years, and even all the way through college.
Going beyond just tips for parenting, Desert Moms Blog delves into the needs of moms, encouraging them to not just survive, but thrive. Thrive in relationships, in the working world or the stay-at-home world, and at making a decent dinner while trying to juggle homework and sports!
For at least the first 18 beautiful years of our kids’ messes, celebrations, challenges, friendships, and sweet life, Desert Moms will be here for one another. We are fierce. We are loyal. We are courageous. We are authentic. We are desert-dwelling moms!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
We pride ourselves on building partnerships with small and medium size businesses in the valley to bring resources, shops, and experiences to our readers. We want that shop local, read local, live local vibe!
