Meet Anne and Michael Levi of Wright in the Garden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne and Michael Levi.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Anne and Michael. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As the great granddaughter and great great grandson of Frank Lloyd Wright, our Team has cultivated our shop from our passion for landscape architecture and nature, which has been passed down for generations. Both being landscape design certified, our friends and family were always asking us to help with their landscape designs, advice on what plants to plant during various seasons, etc so the idea to start Wright in the Garden as a garden renovation business began. While repurposing planters and garden space we expanded our services and began our booth at local Farmers Markets providing container planters that had been repurposed, along with veggie starts and herbs, succulents, etc. Our customers would always ask where our store was, and as we grew the shop idea evolved. We decided to leave behind the landscape design aspect and move in to a store front, where our main focus is on educating people to help them find the right garden needs (plants, fertilizers, soil, etc) for their indoor or outdoor spaces.

Has it been a smooth road?
Like all small businesses, our obstacles with starting a new business have been planning long-term growth. We have the best customers and community around. As part of Local First Arizona, our small business has the support it needs to compete with the larger corporate companies that house/sell similar products. We are constantly thinking up new ways to engage customers so that they will shop local and not be quick to jump on the big-box bandwagon to shop price and product availability. And like all new ideas, some work and some do not.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Wright in the Garden story. Tell us more about the business.
Wright in the Garden is a family owned and operated urban garden shop that sells house plants, succulents, air plants, various Arizona specialty plants that are fit for our desert climate, garden tools and much more for any outdoor/indoor space in Phoenix. We cater to the beginner gardener and to those that are experienced, both green and black thumbs. We offer a variety of educational workshops throughout the year led by local growers in our community on a variety of garden topics fit for the season.
