Meet Amy Kaiserman of Bubble Huts in Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Kaiserman.

Amy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I first caught wind of bubble tents in December of 2013. At that time, I was going through a divorce after 20 years of marriage and not sure what I was going to do.

I started working for a man who had years of manufacturing experience who had offered to help me produce a product, as long as I was willing to do the work it would take to build a business. Despite knowing that I was way over my head, inexperienced in business and had no money, I took a huge jump in “faith” and agreed to do so. Within the first year of building my business, I landed my first project for an event that MTV in NYC was hosting. The funny thing was I thought I was just getting into making bubble tents for people to use for glamping. However, it was the marketing, advertising, and event industry that I first did jobs for.

Since then, I have earned the respect and trust of some of the very top companies in the USA today. Over 50% of my business is providing both life-size globes and event domes to these companies for experiential marketing and outdoor events. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in the Spring of 2016 and brought the business with me. I instantly began assembling a manufacturing team and began developing the product. We went through several product development changes in the past four years and are still working on ways of perfecting it even more.

In February of 2018, I officially changed the registry location for my business and registered the business in the state of Arizona. In 2018, we registered with the United States of American Patent and Trademark Office, making Bubble Huts a brand. And in July of 2019, our Bubble Huts brand was featured in The Wall Street Journal along with other leading glamping tent manufacturers.

And in 2020, we have partnered with another leading glamping tent manufacturer and will be providing our clients the opportunity to have premium-quality, luxury canvas tents. We will also be able to provide clients with turnkey services for those setting up resorts, popup hotels or glamping destinations.

Has it been a smooth road?
This question almost made me fall out of my chair in laughter! This journey has been anything but smooth. Please allow me to explain:

1. Myself
I had to learn to get over myself and to control my thoughts and emotions. And how to stand on my own two feet and continue forward, even when those closest to me were skeptical. I would have to say this is probably one of the hardest things we as entrepreneurs have to do in order to make it to the other side. I had to learn first hand what perseverance was, I spent countless days, hours and years working by myself and made a ton of personal sacrifices as well. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I would end my 16 hour day telling myself that ” I quit, I didn’t want to work like this anymore, that it was too hard” to wake up the next morning to do it all over again. There was something inside of me that wouldn’t let me stop despite what I was feeling or thinking.

2. New Market/New Brand
Glamping is still a fairly new market in the US, and when I first started using the term people would look at me as though I was speaking a foreign language. Is was speaking about something that was five years still out from the general public awareness. I had to help create this awareness online and with those I came in contact with. Still today, there are times when I run across someone who doesn’t know what glamping is, let alone a bubble tent. I also had to bring awareness of what bubble tents are and the brand “Bubble Huts”.

3. Unfair Online Ads
I’m sure by now you have seen ads for bubble tents on some of the most popular shopping platforms today. 99.9% of those ads are false advertising!

Unfortunately, these resellers and overseas manufacturers have taken photos of my industry fellow and use them to sell their lower quality bubble tents for cheap. Tricking consumers into believing they can buy a high-quality, beautiful bubble tent for next to nothing. Not only does the consumer receive products that aren’t safe, but they also aren’t commercial grade and are of a low standard and are nothing like the photos in which they purchased from. This has caused a misconception in the market value and has given bubble tents a bad reputation. Unfortunately, we have tried to bring this to the attention of the appropriate authorities and business lawyers and they all tell us the same thing, ” you don’t have the money or time to try to fight this”. This is a goliath battle!

We actually get phone calls and emails from some of these individuals that bought a bubble tent from one of these false ads asking us to help them fix the bubble tent they bought from these resellers. The good news for us is, we didn’t take it as a defeat but instead as a challenge!

As a company, we made a promise to be sure to provide the very best product we can to our clients, to be there for them if they run into any problems and help guide individuals into making an informed choice when purchasing a bubble tent online, even if they don’t buy from us.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m the founder and owner of the business and am actively involved in every aspect of it. I would have to say I’m most proud to be manufacturing a product in our country. I’m grateful to be able to give back to my local business community and country by keeping the work here, even though I pay top dollar to do so in both materials and labor. I guess what sets me apart is Bubble Huts is the only and first bubble tent manufacturer in our country.
