Meet Amisha Klawonn of Oneness Physical Therapy in Arcadia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amisha Klawonn.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Oneness Physical Therapy was started as a way to provide high quality care for clients without worrying about insurance requirements or wondering if they would cover services. As a fellowship trained manual therapist, I wanted the time and space to spend time with clients and really educate them and teach ways to connect with their bodies and prevent future injuries. Pilates and yoga are ways to facilitate a transformation with clients and being able to spend time with each person is such a gift. It makes me love going to work each day!

In today’s world, it’s so easy to be in our heads and disconnected with our bodies. Using mind-body techniques within physical therapy helps clients get grounded and centered in their own bodies. It’s really the key to transformation.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My business has been very blessed with amazing connections, referrals and absolutely the best clients. When you make the switch from an insurance based practice to a fee for service practice, there is big change in your clientele. Many people want to use insurance benefits and won’t consider going to a fee for service based clinic. However, once you do the calculations and see that you can have one on one care for longer sessions with a licensed physical therapist the entire time, you get better faster and it can actually cost less than with insurance co-pays.

Please tell us about Oneness Physical Therapy.
Oneness physical therapy specializes in holistic care utilizing manual therapy, yoga and Pilates. It’s one on one care in the space of quiet studio with a licensed manual physical therapist. The integrative component really sets oneness apart from other physical therapy clinics. An evaluation includes questions on your stress levels, lifestyle factors, breathing and sleep along with more traditional questioning about your injury. Several clients have been to multiple other physical therapists prior to finding Oneness and the unique approach really makes the difference for their situation. I am very proud of the clients we have helped through very challenging times in their life through the use of movement, manual therapy, mindset, meditation and education.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The physical therapy industry is changing rapidly. As health care reimbursement from insurance companies go down and clinics have to see more patients to make ends meet, patients will begin taking healthcare into their own hands. They will seek out quality care to make the improvements they desire. I believe that when that happens on a wide scale, insurance companies will begin to listen and adapt accordingly. Until then, the client is empowered to choose the healthcare they want and need to get better.
