Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Inclan.
Hi Amber, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2005/2006, I dropped out of Fashion School at FIDM in Los Angeles and needed to pay off my student loans. I got my insurance license to have a reliable job and pay off my student debt. I truly believed that this was temporary. It’s funny how life has different plans for us. Fast forward ten years, and I was still working in the industry and worked for a few independent agencies. Many agencies (in my opinion) at that time ran similarly and lacked collaboration, creativity, and thinking outside of the box. What I realized was that I believed there could be a different way to own and run a successful insurance agency. I knew by that time if I was going to continue in this industry, I needed to open my agency and do things differently.
With a lot of convincing, my mom agreed to partner with me, and in 2016, we took a huge leap of faith and opened our insurance agency in Southern California. We started from scratch with zero clients and have worked tremendously hard to build our business. I’m proud to say we recently celebrated 6 years in business. Last year we knew it was time to expand our business and open in the West Valley area of Arizona. It was not an easy decision but was a great decision. I’ve started to build a team here and am excited to see our growth in the coming years.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
Looking back on the last six years, it hasn’t been easy. It has been some of the most challenging years thus far. I’ve had to wear many hats in my business, especially when we were in the beginning stages. There was a time I was all things; service, sales, marketing, social media, IT, trainer, etc. I’d have to say my biggest struggle has been delegating and letting go of control. I’m still a work in progress. However, I feel I’ve made huge strides in this area and will continue to do so.
Being a business owner isn’t for the faint of heart. Even with all the challenges, they have undoubtedly been my life’s most rewarding and happiest years. I’ve had to dig deep to become better, push myself, and keep going even when I felt like I couldn’t. But with all the hard days, tough lessons, and struggles comes growth, change, and joy. That’s where the real reward is. People don’t tell you that it’s not just about being a business owner. It’s about so much more. It’s about being an advocate, a mentor, a leader, a friend, and a community partner.
As you know, we’re big fans of Inclan Insurance Services, Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
At Inclan Insurance Services, Inc., our mission is to empower business owners through commercial insurance, helping them simplify the insurance process so they can focus on what they do best. With a full understanding of our clients, we can educate them on how insurance can be used as a tool in their business. We are committed to working alongside our clients and fully understanding the current state of their business vs. what their vision of the future is for their business.
We truly believe that small businesses are the heart and soul of our commUNITY(s)! Together we can conquer and achieve so much more. In this belief, we walk alongside our clients advocating for them, encouraging them, and supporting them. We are a team and not a transaction. This sets us apart from others and what we are most proud of! People are our purpose.
My plan for the future is to continue to build and grow a strong team here in Arizona. Also, looking forward to connecting with other business owners and becoming more involved in my community.
