Meet Amanda Samudio of Samoods Utterly Sweet

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Samudio.

Hi Amanda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Samoods Utterly Sweet Bakery is a Cottage Kitchen Bakery. We started as a Mother/Daughter team. Our name reflects our beginning. S is for Shera (mom), and A is for Amanda (daughter). The moo is simply because we love cows! So that is how SAMOOODS began. Our idea for the bakery was that we would grow into something that our whole family could do together. Our MOO CREW has grown to include Lindsey, Emily, and Ashlyn(daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, and niece). This is all the women in our family except for 3 (a teenager who isn’t quite into baking yet, a little one who isn’t old enough yet, and our matriarch who is done baking).

Family, faith, and community are very important to us. We have a long line of police officers, firefighters, and nurses in our family, and serving others is what we do. When we started our bakery, we knew we would want to use it to serve others and help others however we could. SAMOODS has partnered with several families that had special needs /circumstances. We did fundraisers for them and donated all the proceeds to them.
Some of our most requested goodies are our danishes and our monkey bread. We offer 3 different kinds of danish. Cream Cheese, raspberry cream cheese, and pumpkin! Maridyth’s Monkey Bread is an individual experience of the larger monkey bread so many of us came to love as kids. We have been told that our Monkey bread is giving Cinnabon a run for their money! Our most recent menu item in high demand is our extra-large pop tarts offered in various flavors too.

We have a wide variety of gluten-free and vegan goodies available too!
The only things we don’t do are our cakes and pies!!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been smooth. Like everyone, we have had our ups and downs. Shera recently retired from dentistry, and Amanda is still working full-time as a police officer. Since we have had the blessing to have our family on board, things have been lighter for us with the extra hands. We did not know a thing about running a business, but with the help of many, we have been very blessed!

As you know, we’re big fans of Samoods Utterly Sweet. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
We started this business with the idea that we could do this as a family and serve our communities in the best way we know. This was not something that came overnight but has taken a lot of patience, grace, and trust. We are very proud of our MOO CREW and the grace they show us as new business owners. We proudly support our Military/Veterans and first responders. We are proud Americans and cannot wait to serve YOU! We want everyone to know that we accept everyone with open arms and want to serve others to the best of our abilities.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
We have done a lot of praying and ultimately owe everything to God and the blessings he has provided to us. We have been blessed since day one when the owners of Black Sheep Coffe (Glendale, az) decided to give us a shot. They continue to stand by us and push us in ways we didn’t know we needed to be Pushed! We are highly thankful to all the shops we get to serve because without them; we wouldn’t have a business!! So we thank everyone who supports us and what we stand for.
