Life & Work with Lydia Moses

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lydia Moses.

Hi Lydia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey to starting my fitness business, The MoveFit Method, has been a long one. Growing up in Wickenburg, AZ in the 90s, I remember doing Richard Simmons and Winsor Pilates videos with my mom and was always outside playing with friends. It was so easy to be active as a child.

As I got older and got more responsibilities, the exercise took a back seat. I started smoking cigarettes and partying in high school because I wanted an escape from the stress of my responsibilities and other issues I was trying to hide. This went on for a few years. Fast forward to 2009… I moved to Tempe, AZ, and met my now-husband. He told me didn’t like that I smoked and asked if I would stop. I agreed to stop but the cravings sucked. One day when I was having a craving, I decided to head to the gym at my apartment complex. I hopped on the elliptical thinking I could go for 10 minutes and ride out my craving.

After 3 minutes, I was out of breath and could barely move my legs. I was shocked at how deconditioned my body had become. That day, I vowed to take better care of my body and never take it or my health for granted again. After only a couple of weeks, I started to realize how great exercise made me feel and have kept up with it ever since. Moving my body and showing it gratitude is something I look forward to every day. I was a cardio bunny at first because I didn’t know what to do with weights and felt intimidated by them. But I saw how confident those who lifted weights were and I wanted to feel that way.

I began researching and implementing strength training and fell in love! It improved my performance but more importantly, my mental health. After years of being passionate about exercise, I became a certified personal trainer (CPT) in February 2020 because I felt like helping people learn to love their bodies through exercise/movement was my true calling. COVID-19 hit in March and with gyms shut down, I put starting a personal training business aside but my passion for exercise never subsided.

Fast forward to March 2022, I decided it was now or never and launched The MoveFit Method.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest obstacle in starting my personal training business has been ME.

I’ve always had issues with body confidence and have been scared that people think I’m not “fit” enough to train others because I don’t look like a typical fitness “influencer”. But I realized the more I am open and honest about my struggles with confidence and imposter syndrome, the more it connects me to those who I feel called to help.

Helping and encouraging others to start their fitness journeys, has increased my self-love and it’s turning into a beautiful ride.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a CPT and certified nutrition coach, I provide fitness, nutrition, and mindset coaching.

My mission is to help my clients learn to love and appreciate their bodies through all movement and give them the tools and habits they need to feel their most confident and slay their health and fitness goals without crazy restrictions. I am all about balance – I want to show people that living a healthy and active lifestyle isn’t all or nothing and how it can be maintained long term.

Because healthy and fit looks different for everyone, I don’t provide cookie-cutter programs. My signature training/coaching program includes:

  • 12-week custom fitness program delivered via the app.
  • Monthly nutrition assessments and customized macros.
  • 1:1 weekly accountability/coaching calls in month one.
  • 1:1 bi-weekly accountability/coaching calls thereafter.
  • Plus daily accountability, support, and motivation.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try… don’t be afraid to work towards your goals. If you are ready, I am here to support you.
