Life & Work with Kim Ollerhead of Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Ollerhead.

Hi Kim, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When my twins were old enough to go out on adventures, I found myself looking for fun and unique things to do. I started venturing out little by little with my kids and sharing with other twin moms any tips that helped me. My list of Things To Do With Kids kept growing and growing, and I wanted to share with other moms what ideas I had. I started blogging with a local blog, but that wasn’t enough. There was so much more to share. That’s when I started my Phoenix With Twins Instagram and opened our lives to the world. Whether it was a local play place, the best time to go with young kids, or a free air-conditioned event in the summer, I wanted to help Moms find everything to do. I also love sharing the local businesses that we like much. From kid-friendly restaurants to the latest play place to open, it can help moms. I had the vision to create a map of all the playgrounds in the valley, and with my help, we were able to get that published on the blog, and I could not be happier. Considering I have pages and pages of ideas, I don’t see our adventures slowing down soon!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
This is probably the bumpiest ride I have ever been on! But also the most rewarding. The most obvious challenge was having two kids the same age. There were things I could not do at times. I was determined to find ways to involve my son and daughter in all the fun things I was finding. In 2020 there were finding ways to keep kids entertained at home, as well as years of keeping kids safe and healthy. There is also the aspect of exploring on a budget. Finding affordable opportunities is a challenge on its own. This is all on my own dime without the official numbers to be invited or paid to go to experiences. And I am simply sharing my favorite things around town.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a promoter of all things local and kid-friendly. I love to share events and local places. I also love to help people find what they need to make their kids happy. Is your kid a fan of Paw Patrol? Visit Marshall at Jordan’s Corner Tuesday afternoon. Does your kid have a summer birthday and love mermaids? Call Enchanted Princesses; they have mermaids who can swim with the kids. Seeing the reaction on my kid’s faces the first time they have experienced it is one of my biggest joys, and I love sharing that feeling with other parents. I also know how busy and time-consuming parenting can be, so having one place to go to look for ideas is helpful.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I’m sure the social media industry will continue to grow and change. Probably quickly. It wasn’t that long ago we were picking our top 8 for our MySpace page, and now it’s sharing the latest trends IReels. I hope I can keep up; while I may not ever be the trendiest or the most followed, I love my audience and hearing about the fun they had.
