Today we’d like to introduce you to Daizjele Cox.
Hi Daizjele, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I’m a jack of all trades, with a passion for art. I got into art as a fluke. My son came home from school with an assignment which required the students to draw a president (he was assigned Chester Arthur). Originally he felt uncomfortable with his capability to complete the assignment but, we worked on it together and proved his initial false. I’ve had a passion for creating ever since. Which has inspired my passions to painting, drawing, cooking, modding, molding hair accessories, making pillows, and of course hosting paint and sips. I love creating and I try to do so every day. Ideal hands make an ideal minds we were born to make our stamps on this earth. I work daily to fulfill my duty.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This hasn’t been a smooth road, in the slightest bit. Being an artist is challenging.I’d say staying focused and influenced is a really a struggle; especially in today’s society of social media and the pandemic. Everyone has found a way of capitalizing off one another, in some form or fashion. I feel like this can kill any creative person spirit. Not being able to promote your talents and being blocked unless you submit a payment is frustrating. To know someone else is profiting on your efforts prevents one from sharing their content; unless you’re willing to pay larger firms such as Facebook (Instagram) and Google, which for some reason redirects when you search my name or business, even allow the stealing and plagiarism of content. Idea poachers.over time I began to accept and love it as a whole. These are challenges I now consider flattery but can create a vulnerability.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Customer Service Representative for Aetna; I have worked for the insurance company for six years now in the dental department. I went to school for dental so getting the opportunity to work in dental insurance was just a hand in hand with my education. The schooling gives me the opportunity to create while working, also giving me the opportunity to relax while working. It makes doing my job feel as calming as drinking a cold glass of water
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m self-taught, unless you count the Bob Ross videos I’ve watched. I started drawing in 2014 and painting in 2017. Every piece is free form and freehand artwork.
