Life and Work with Sebastiana Parra

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastiana Parra.

Sebastiana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
So, I had been a dancer my whole life growing up. I was very active and on a competitive team for nine years. In the last four years, I danced for my high school’s varsity dance team and then, I stopped.

I went to college and wanted to focus on my degree, so I said goodbye to dancing. By my sophomore year of college, I decided I NEEDED something and I joined the Army ROTC program at my University.

I tore the medial meniscus in my left knee, I even continued to try to rehab it so I could continue on but there went my contract with the ROTC.

After that, I felt lost because that wasn’t just a part of school that was going to be my life career.

I changed my focus and spent a lot more time on my degree.

By the end of my senior year, I was married and I had my son six weeks after my graduation.

Learning to be a mom was hard, I was struggling in many aspects of my life and very depressed. I love me my son with my whole being though, so I poured all of me into caring for him and let myself be unimportant.

When he was two years old, I got tired of feeling so terrible about myself, I was still wearing my maternity clothes and something had to change.

My best friend got ahold of me and said I found this super awesome company, join me! So, I did!

During that time, I went through a divorce and struggled with my emotions and the huge change of not having my son with me ALL the time. He was my world.

While he was with his dad, I dove into my workouts and within four months, I lost 30 lbs.

I found happiness within myself again and when I started to love myself, I found a new and amazing relationship with my now boyfriend.

Fast forward, I have another son! This time, I couldn’t wait two years to get myself back on track so at seven months postpartum, I told myself stop feeling bad for yourself, put down my slice of leftover pizza and I got ahold of my amazing coach from before.

She added me to the most amazing community of kind, loving and supportive women and she cheered me on from the get-go.

Within three months, I had such an amazing transformation, I have felt good about myself and I have been doing everything I can to help make other women feel this same way.

Women tend to forget that we aren’t just validated as a person due to our relationships with someone else. We are valid because we are humans.

I am a mom, and bonus mom to four amazing children, I am a girlfriend to a loving boyfriend, I am a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a friend, a coach, a mentor, but first I am me.

If we do not take some time to care about ourselves, we cannot give of ourselves to others.

So, my hope is to be able to change lives, not just with their weight loss journeys but on their journeys to love themselves inside and out.

Because I have the power to make good things happen.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has 100% NOT been a smooth road. I mean, I’m a mom, I have children to tend to, I have a house to clean, people to feed and laundry to do.

On top of that, I have soooo many people that believe in me but I have people who also think what I am doing is a scam or silly or not going to change much in my life or others.

My advice for women just starting on their journey is that the hardest part is starting. It is hard to accept that we NEED to change. It is hard to acknowledge that we are hurting or unhappy because we fear sounding ungrateful.

My advice for women who are just starting in the business aspect is that it’s hard! It’s 100% worth it but it’s hard. Some months will be better than others but you get out what you put in. You can’t expect to not do the workout and get amazing results. You can’t expect to not eat healthy (mostly at least) and be full of energy. You can’t expect to put in minimum effort and get the maximum out of it.

You want this as a job to treat it like a job. You want this as a lifestyle change and then, MAKE the change.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Beachbody – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am a Team Beachbody Coach and an aspiring social media influencer.

My job is to utilize them at home workouts created through Beachbody by certified trainers, nutritional programs created by nutritionists and Beachbody’s amazing performance supplements to lead a healthy lifestyle as well as inspire and help others to do the same.

I personally believe that my specialty is to motivate, support and care for people. I am no more special than anyone else,

Beachbody is an MLM and that drives people away, I understand that because so many people misuse MLMs. But Beachbody is different and even more so, my team is different.

We truly care about you. We care about your wellbeing, your journey, your life. I have truly found my best friends within this company and it has changed my life for the better over the past three years.

Even if I didn’t have such amazing results, even if I never reach my huge business goals, I would still say I benefitted hugely from the opportunity I have been given through this company and more specifically through my team.

Who have you been inspired by?
So many women have inspired my life. I have a very big and blended family so sorry if this ends up sounding confusing.

First off, my amazing mom, Pam, she is the definition of strength, inside and out. She constantly reminds me of ways to be a better person and she has supported me every second of the way.

My momma, Kristi (my stepmom that I NEVER call that but I am only for explanation), even though I’m not her biological daughter she has always treated me as her own. So much so that when I became a bonus mom myself, I had no idea the ups and downs and how hard it truly can be but she also showed me that the ONLY way to be a bonus mom is to love those children as if they are your own.

Courtney, another momma of mine, she’s strong and loving and so freaking admirable. Even though she came into my life much later, she has influenced my heart and mind so much since then and I couldn’t be more grateful.

My younger sisters have endured so much in their lives and they have come out above it every time. Harli is a combat medic in the Army and mother to one of my six nephews, and had inspired me with her dedication to motherhood and serving our country; and Mishaila, is the baby sister BUT she has inspired me to get my health back. She is studying to be a certified trainer while supporting herself along the way!

My grandmothers for inspiring long lines of strong women.

My best friend Brittany Rodriguez for loving me when I felt like no one would and for believing that I could make this change in my life and for asking me to jump in with her.

My coach, Candace Musselwhite, for sharing her life, her journey, and welcoming into the fold wholeheartedly.

I could go on and on and on. I have made it a goal of mine to be surrounded by amazing and inspiring women. There’s no way I could count, or name even half of them without taking up all of your time.

I am truly fortunate to have such a community of women there for me.
