Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Nielsen.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kelly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I had my first daughter in 2005 I was looking for something that we could do together. I came across Stroller Strides, which is a fitness program for moms and fun for baby. Classes consist of resistance training and cardio all with your baby along for the ride. They also offer weekly playdates and moms’ night out events. It was a perfect fit for us. I found this group in CA and was getting ready to move to AZ and decided to open up a stroller strides franchise in AZ so that I could make friends in our new home town.
Since the move and the opening of my franchise I have had 3 more kiddos who have all grown up in the program and we have met many friends for all of us. I initially opened up my franchise in Peoria in Jan 2007, since then we now offer class in North Peoria, Surprise, Peoria and Goodyear. We have also grown to offer a bootcamp program for moms who want to take their fitness to the next level as well as a run club.
Moms are constantly taking care of everyone else and I wanted to provide a safe and fun environment where moms could get fit and healthy, spend time with their little ones all while being surrounded by a strong mom village.
I have loved watching moms do things they didn’t think they were capable, I have watched friendships for moms and kiddos form and turn into lifelong relationships, I have seen kiddos in our class start at 6 weeks old and now starting high school, I have watched moms be role models for their kids of showing that it’s important to be healthy and strong and to incorporate fitness into their daily lives.
Two of my favorite things are being a mom and fitness. With this business I get to be both and help others enjoy fitness and strength in motherhood.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s scary to be a new mom in itself, but it is also hard to join a group of women. It is a challenge to get moms to come to their first class, but I will say that I almost always hear, “I wish I would have come sooner” This group of ladies is welcoming, ready to give you a high five or a hug. Everyone comes to class for their own individual reasons, but they are all there to support each other in their journeys. So I guess I would say, make that leap, take that first step, because you could be missing out on something amazing.
Moms work so hard, we try to give moms one hour of the day for them. If baby cries or is screaming, the instructors will hold their baby or push the stroller. They will do whatever they can to help, take the one hour to yourself!!

Fit4Mom of Goodyear, Peoria Surprise focuses on strength in motherhood. We want to provide a safe place for moms to come and just be themselves. Stroller Strides® is a total fitness program that moms can do WITH their babies. It includes power walking/jogging and intervals of strength and body toning exercise using exercise tubing, your stroller, and the environment. Taught by certified fitness instructors with specialty training in the pre and post natal woman, it is a great workout for ANY level of exerciser. All of our instructors abide by the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ recommendations for exercises. Stroller Strides instructors weave songs and activities into the routine designed to engage and entertain baby, while moms are led through a series of exercises specific to her role as Mom. Your first workout is complimentary!
Body Back — Ready to take your health and fitness to the next level? Our specially-trained coaches will take you on a journey to reach your fullest potential! Our meal plans, accountability and assessments are proven to shed fat, increase strength and endurance, tone muscle and improve energy. Whether you have 100 lbs. to lose or 5, if you are new to working out or training for your 10th IRONMAN, our coaches will help you meet your specific fitness goals in a supportive and inspiring environment with meal plans, food journals, weekly emails and tips, meditations, inspirations and support until you reach your goals.

This program is designed for any level of runner, from beginner to expert.
