Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Aguirre.
Kayla, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been pretty involved in social media; from MySpace to Facebook and now mostly Instagram. Taking and sharing photos has always been a big deal for me whether it be from my travels, experiences or just daily life. I think it’s important to have tons of photos because they’re always going to bring you back to a time in your life and they’re something you can share with others years from now. I decided a year ago that I was not only going to be more active in sharing my life through Instagram but also through a travel and lifestyle blog that I created. I wanted to be able to provide people with real, honest thoughts and recommendations on different places to travel as well as being able to share my lifestyle a little more personally and genuinely.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Overall, it’s been a SLOW and steady journey. I think that being in the social media eye it’s easy to get caught up worrying about how many followers or likes we have but we have to remember that this takes time and it’s not overnight gratification. There’s a lot of time and effort that needs to be put forth into creating something great so be patient and keep showing your creativity. It’s also incredibly important to NOT compare yourself to others, trust me I’m guilty of doing it here and there, but it’s not worth the time or effort to hurt your own feelings. I think the simplest piece of advice I can give to someone starting their own journey is to just be yourself and don’t be afraid to try new things.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Majority of my work is pertaining to travel and lifestyle with a hint of fashion. I think one of the things that set me apart is that I’m not this extremely glamorous over the top person, I’m just an average woman going through the waves of life. I work multiple jobs, I’m in a four year (and counting) relationship where we just bought our first home and I do go through daily struggles just as everyone else does. I want to be as real and authentic with anyone following my journey.
Who have you been inspired by?
The one woman that has inspired me the most in life has to be my mom. She’s always guided me to do well in any aspect of life and she’s taught me to be independent.
