Life and Work with Destiny Hamid

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Hamid.

Destiny, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I think my love for natural medicine and nutrition came from my love of reading and cooking. I specifically remember checking out a book of natural medicine from the library when I was about 15… I was fascinated that herbs and food could be used to heal!

Cooking was always important in my family so I had every opportunity to learn and explore in the kitchen. Food science was always fun (being a homeschooler!) and it sparked my interest in nutrition.

I graduated at 17 and while my graduation bio stated that I wanted to be a Nutritionist, I actually started thinking about getting my bachelors in business. I spent the summer working and started looking at my opinions on which road to take for college. One thing led to another and I decided to get my certification as a personal trainer which was flexible with my full-time job.

Once I earned my certification as a trainer, I felt like there was more for me to accomplish. While I learned a lot about exercise and was dedicated to staying fit, my lifestyle was lacking the balance of nutrition, stress reduction, etc. The imbalance led to adrenal fatigue which changed my mindset on the “no days off” mentality that’s pushed in the fitness world.

That’s when my parents and I started looking into schools that I could study nutrition and we came across the Institute of Integrative Nutrition which taught a holistic approach to health and wellness! My love of food, natural medicine, and fitness all came together and I learned how to apply the knowledge to my life as well as help my family which was and still is an amazing experience!

After graduating from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, I decided to go back for their hormone health course and that has now become my focus as a health coach. As a health coach, I counsel one-on-one with individuals to teach them about nutrition, cooking, exercise, stress-reduction and much more.

The knowledge I have been blessed with from all of these experiences have given me the desire to share and help others in their wellness journey!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been many bumps in the road.
I wasn’t sure that people would take me seriously as a hormone focused health coach because of my age, but I was taught to never let age hold me back! Whether you’re really young starting your own business or deciding to go to school later in life… dreams and goals don’t have an age limit.

I think one of my greatest struggles was learning how to balance determination and drive with being gracious towards myself. During your journey as a student or business owner, you’ll have hard days where you’ll want to quit. You have to remind yourself why you started in the first place! This keeps me going during the times I doubt my ability.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Destined for Wellness – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
As I said before: I’m a health coach that focuses on hormone balance. I guide women and men to better health by teaching them about food, cooking techniques, the best exercise for their body, ways to reduce stress and much more! I offer several programs which includes one on one sessions, food guides, and recipes as well as support between sessions.

Being a coach is a very rewarding job and I love seeing the transformation in the lives of my clients and their families.

Sharing my personal health journey and connecting with others is a huge part of being a coach and makes myself and my fellow coaches each unique! I love that we can all learn from each other and I’m very thankful for my supportive community.

I teach my clients the concept of bio-individuality; what works for one person won’t necessarily work for another. I guide each client through the process of finding their bio-individual needs, which leads to lifelong success in each person I coach.
