Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Riley.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always loved helping others and cared greatly about their health and well being. Growing up, I had no interest in beauty and was extremely involved in sports. I surprised myself as I got older, how much a person can change especially their appearance along with our personalities and goals. I knew I wanted to help others but was unsure of how I wanted to be able to do so when I found myself researching a lot of holistic remedies for hair and skin care. I decided to further my knowledge of the functions of our skin and enroll in school for aesthetics. I believe in a more holistic and plant based approach to skin care and diet. Being an aesthetician is more than just throwing lotions and potions on people faces it’s about the connection between you and your client along with caring for their personal interests. A client relationship becomes a bond in which you can learn and grow with each other. The skin is not only our largest organ but it can also be very complex and we are the educators.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When I first graduated from aesthetics school, I felt so accomplished but then the realization of what to do with this new accomplishment set in. I started to apply anywhere and everywhere just waiting for responses and knowing that without experience I may run into some difficulties. I finally had a response and spent many years at the facility and had gained the much-needed experience. I finally realized, working under some was just not my cup of tea, so I decided to go out on my own and create something I can call my own. Having your own business definitely has its ups and downs but in my opinion, without the struggle, you will never succeed. I wanted to create a peaceful and welcoming environment for my clients and show them that this industry is not about selling products whatsoever but about living yourself and treating yourself. Whether my clients and I have a goal to transform their skin or just to relax I will always be there to guide them.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hello Beauty – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I have a variety of services I currently offer which include, facial services that range from microdermabrasion to dermaplaning. I also offer lash services such as tinting and lash lifts and, of course, full body waxing. I absolutely love tackling aging, acne, and hyperpigmentation skin conditions especially I myself have had some moments throughout my life where my skin was in need of serious repair from the inside out. I am a strong believer in a more holistic approach to skin and the less aggressive the better, your skin will thank you in the long run. I usually will go over all the details in my client’s life such as medications and diet because a lot of people do not realize how much these play a factor in what shows on the outside. Healing from within is always my first approach.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I follow many fellow aestheticians on social media pages such as Facebook and we are all still learning from one another whether you have been in the industry 30 years or 1 year. I am always continuing my education with classes and other resources whether it be books or studies found on the web.
