Today we’d like to introduce you to Autum Craft.
Autum, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, I was the kid that wanted to have a thousand different careers. An interior decorator! A fashion designer! A dancer on Broadway! A photographer! I’ve always been a creative at heart. I grew up as a competitive dancer, so I’ve always been in front of the camera for photo shoots and recordings of my dancing. In addition to dancing, I always had my mom’s camera around my neck. I’d stay outside for hours upon hours capturing anything I could find, from bugs, to flowers, to my siblings, and even myself. (Gotta love self-timers!) Put that fascination with photos in combination with a love of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle, voilà, that’s where my passion for Instagram and blogging came to life!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d say my biggest obstacle was getting over the judgement from others. I’ve had my fair share of bullying and belittling from others, specifically online. Everyone is brave behind a computer, which, unfortunately for me, is where I share my work. No matter what job, profession or hobby that you have, there’s always going to be someone that just doesn’t get it. You cannot ever let that determine whether or not you’re going to share your passion with the world. If you have something in your life that brings you joy or that makes you push yourself daily or that inspires you, take that and run with it. The greatest things we can get from this life involve pushing yourself beyond what makes you comfortable.
Please tell us about Autum Rainn.
I am a content creator/influencer and blogger. My biggest passions lately are fashion and lifestyle. I love having random pieces of clothing and figuring out how I can create an outfit from it, and also how I can make it look appealing over a photo and entice others to want to try it for themselves. I love all things beautiful and girly and I try to make that shine through my photos. I also collaborate and work together with brands/companies and create photos to show off their products. This is something I love doing because it really pushes me to create something great. I think something that sets me apart is refusing to hide my personality. I am naturally extremely goofy and my favorite thing to do is embarrass myself. I love dancing like a fool, making ugly faces, and doing things that are typically deemed as “unattractive”. I think it is so easy to get consumed in constantly projecting your life onto social media, and in turn, you want everything you post to be viewed as flawless and perfect. With social media you are really able to pick and choose what your followers see and what they don’t. While I do want my followers to see my pretty photos and cute outfits, I also want my followers to see me ugly dancing in my bathroom. I want my followers to see that I get pimples. I want my followers to see my sense of humor. I refuse to lose sight of that.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Absolutely! I love listening to podcasts. I’d say my favorite at the moment is What We Said Podcast. It’s by one of my favorite content creators, Jaci Marie and her best friend, Chelsey Jade. I’ve followed Jaci in her journey of Instagram and social media for a long time now, and it’s so inspiring to hear her thoughts on all areas of life and watch her continue to grow. I also love the Influencer Podcast by Julie Solomon. A blogger friend of mine recommended it to me not too long ago and I am obsessed! I never want to stop learning and growing and every time I turn this podcast on, I am motivated to make strides towards bettering my work.
