Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Triano.
Adrienne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Over 13 years ago, I attended school for Aesthetics and loved it! I took a short break as I was nurturing and building my family. When all my little ones were finally in school, I decided to reignite my passion in the industry. Going completely freelance was a difficult challenge as all my work I had to hustle for. I was competing with a younger generation most of which were created through a YouTube tutorial environment. I went to local salons, wedding boutiques, and contacted a lot of photographers. My work has been featured on a handful of local TV segments and had me getting booked months in advance for weddings and special events! Unfortunately, on July 2, 2019, I was diagnosed with a rare form of Glaucoma. This damaged a lot of my vision and leaving me extremely sensitive to light, and the reality that my career may have come to a complete stop. I’ve endured numerous laser and other eye surgeries in less than two months that left me very confused and depressed. I decided once again that I have the power to create and hopefully inspire not only working Moms but also women of all sorts that feel defeated in any shape or form. I have had to make so many adjustments with my technique, paying extreme attention to fine lines, and completely altering my light. Since this “setback”, I am proud to say I have successfully booked 25+ satisfied clients… and I have only just begun!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The industry itself is highly competitive these days. We are competing with YouTube tutorials and the threat of not needing or requiring the proper education to become a Makeup Artist. However, I do believe that everyone has the right to do what they love. With that being said… surround yourself with people that can help you grow, as you help them! Don’t compete, complement each other to rise above the negativity. Find in yourself what makes you stand out from the rest and work that. It could be something as little as the chat before the session, but that little chat could be just what your client needs to feel even more beautiful. Be persistent in chasing your jobs, consistent in your work… and never stop helping others succeed!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Make Me Up Adrienne – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am a professionally trained Makeup Artist. I am known in the industry as the “Natural Glam” artist. I like to ask my clients what makes them feel beautiful, then accentuate that! If bright blue eyeshadow and mega lashes makes you feel beautiful… you got it! But I will create a look with blue shadow and lashes to my clients in a way that is subtle, but electrifying!
I work with so many young clients that are trying to build their portfolios but walk in so insecure. I pride myself in trying to create confidence where when you leave my chair, that insecurity is now a badge of pride and something that is only yours to keep shining. I love that Brides trust me and that my work will be in their memories forever!
I think what sets me apart is the experience you get! I show up with music, sparkling cider or champagne and plenty of photo ops… sometimes even a selfie station. Let’s be honest, getting dolled up for an event is 90% of the fun. And I deliver!
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I grew up the youngest of eight! I witnessed my mother from a generation of taking care of your kids and husband was first, and the career was last! Though I had an amazing childhood full of memories of all emotions, I knew I wanted different for my kids. I want my kids to look back and see the balance of family and career. I want them to see that learning never stops, the hustle never stops! I want them to see that we are given hardships and obstacles all throughout life, but they are worth the struggle to overcome those to be able to succeed in the end! My kids and my husband are the force in which drives me to remember who I am and what I set out to accomplish years ago.
