Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabatha Marden.
Hi Tabatha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a proud mama of 4, wife, Certified Emotional Intelligence Practitioner, Leadership Coach, Mental Health Advocate and specialize in Speech Therapy.
I started my career working in schools doing Speech Therapy, I witness kids/teens struggle with mental health, confidence, and social anxiety, which Impacts their relationships, academics and overall well-being. As well as teachers and parents who feel depleted, stressed and anxious more than ever.
According to the CDC, 1/3 of kids are diagnosed with anxiety disorder by age 18 years old, starting at age six years old. It’s devastating to know the third leading cause of death in the United States is suicide, which played a huge role in my inspiration to educate myself and others on preventing these tragedies. The key to prevention is social-emotional learning (SEL).
This was the start of my journey hosting professional development leadership training, integrating social emotional learning programs in schools, homes and in communities to help people transform anxiety into resilience, master mindset, and interact with confidence and Emotional intelligence (EQ).
Personally, I had to learn how to parent and practice EQ daily to help my son when his anxiety intensified entering high school and led to having anxiety attacks from perfectionism., test anxiety etc.
I took many personal development courses and certifications to learn the evidence-based tools to parent with EQ, and strategies needed to have control over anxiety and mindset instead of it having control over how people want to live, lead and show up in the world.
After sharing my story and seeing the transformation I made in my emotional health, and, in my son, I started coaching numerous people in my life who struggle with stress, anxiety, burnout, and confidence stop short of pursuing how they want to show up in their own life because of fear, negative self-talk (Inner Bully/Limiting beliefs), and pushing away emotions.
I saw the need for helping people learn how to practice emotional intelligence, have more honest conversations about feelings, and honoring all emotions, even the unpleasant ones (shame, guilt, self-doubt, anger etc.) and how to face them head on with self-compassion and no judgment to move through the discomfort of them, so they don’t call the shots on who you are, or how you lead in life.
From there, I created an Emotional Wellness Mastery Program called Thrive in EQ, helping people with coping tools to stress less, master their mindset, experience more happiness to live-in emotional freedom in parenting, business and in life.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It was heartbreaking to watch my son Jesse struggle with the physical pain and exhaustion anxiety causes in the body, not just the mind. After several Dr. appointments, and a few times going to the ER unsure of what was going on, we finally found out the root cause. He was defiant in many essential vitamins and highly sensitive to a lot of foods he was eating daily.
To work through perfectionism and test anxiety, it took some time for him to learn the power of mindset, use his strengths well to achieve his goals, and rise through adversity in this ever-changing world.
The journey has led my son to go into coaching and medical to help kids, teens and athletes learn to incorporate nutrition, fitness, and the power of the mind to feel healthy both physically and mentally. I am very excited for the new chapter in his life and how he will help change lives for the better.
After discovering the root, I leaned on the love and compassion of my husband Mick, who helped me in my hardest parenting moments when fear and stress took over. Feeding my brain with toxic negative thoughts, overwhelmed by “mom guilt” and blaming myself for all my kid’s struggles. There were many times I felt defeated, and had to fight the negative inner self-talk.
As I worked to get emotionally fit through journaling, mindset strategies, emotional freedom technique, sound healing, investing in EQ and anxiety, personal development courses, certifications, etc. I gained the knowledge and skills to live an Emotional Wellness lifestyle and support others to do the same. I now can show up with confidence as the wife, mom, entrepreneur, and woman I desire to be.
It’s a tough vibe right now, we are in a very unique time in history as our society combats the COVID-19 virus. My clients are such an inspiration to my work, and it takes incredible courage to practice emotional intelligence, master our mindset, and do the hard inner work to feel good on the inside and out. The outcome is so rewarding, guiding people to take care of their emotional health, and move into a place where they are thriving and loving life again.
Many of my clients grew up in households taught to push away emotions, quick fixes, shortcuts and believing in their negative thoughts. I’m honored to help guide them to create generation change, release limiting beliefs, heal, grow, understand the past doesn’t dictate our life and learn ways to develop a new self-talk, master mindset, reduce stress, and align our behavior towards our values.
Even during these challenging times right now, through my Thrive in EQ community, we are manifesting our dreams, encouraging each other to cultivate gratitude, change how we see the world, lead with purpose, choose compassion over judgment, and love over hate.
Together, we will continue to manage stress with EQ, have power over our mindset, use our inner power to rise through adversity and create a better world.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love best all the nature sights. I would encourage visitors to get out in nature to hike or bike ride any of our beautiful mountains such as Squaw Peak, Camelback or Thunderbird Park. Stay at the CIVANA Wellness Resort & Spa. Ensuring a wonderful stress-free stay, Experience the free Wellness amenities, such as the Spa, classes for meditation, breathing, Yoga and Sound Bowl.
Sedona is beautiful, go to spot to take family and friends. Spending a day or few nights in a cabin at Oak Creek Terrace Resort to hike, swim in the creek, and have a picnic near the creek is fun. Being in nature, or even viewing scenes of nature, reduces anger, fear, and stress and increases pleasant feelings. Exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical wellbeing. Besides the health benefits, it’s something fun and interactive people can do together, build connections and make memorable experiences.
