Inspiring Conversations with Joel Gibson, Jr.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel Gibson, Jr.

Hi Joel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m just a full-time family man, safety specialist, singer, songwriter, and musician! I’ve always enjoyed listening to music, but I didn’t first learn to play guitar or really start singing in front of people until I was 17. I dabbled in writing a little back then, but I didn’t focus on it until many years later when using life experiences, and songs just began pouring out of me.

Then in 2017, my wife began encouraging me to pursue this passion and since then things have been moving pretty quickly. It started with performing various open mics, building confidence, a setlist, and banter; then next thing you know in 2018 we’re recording our first solo acoustic EP “Here Up North” which ultimately resulted in the necessity to put a band together so we could book larger venues and work on recording a full band album.

By June of 2019, we released our first full-band self-titled album “Joel Gibson Jr.” which then garnered further attention and opportunities through 2019 into 2020 but our fast-growing momentum was quickly stalled by the pandemic in 2020.

Not being one to sit idly, we came up with the “Tailgate Tour”. This brought us to 60 private outdoor events at people’s properties, driveways, and neighborhoods; helping us spread our music, hope, and joy to so many who needed it during such a hard time.

We quickly followed up with “Anchors Down”, where we played two concerts on the water to over 100 boats, paddleboards, and kayaks. And if that’s not enough to keep us busy through the pandemic we also created the “Couch Concert” via Facebook Livestream where weekly, now quarterly, we interact, share virtual drinks, check-in and hang out with fans from all over the world.

By 2020 the demand for more music became very apparent so we began work on our newest release “Small Town Truth” recorded at the world-renowned Robert Lang Studios in Shoreline, Washington which was released in June 2021. With the addition of the newest album, we now have over 30 songs streaming on all major platforms with more in the works!

Currently, we are traveling, performing, and promoting our music with a very full calendar for 2022 that will take us all over the US. Our recent four-show tour in the greater Phoenix area was so much fun and we had a great time meeting and making new fans we’re looking forward to doing the same in Nashville, Tennessee this June and Moyock, North Carolina this July.

Without the support of my wife and son, our friends, and fans I wouldn’t be able to do this, so I “Thank You” all for everything you do to support this dream and we look forward to continuing this musical journey with unwavering tenacity, living in the moment, and will remain so grateful for all the support and opportunities that come our way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! Good old hard work, perseverance, and the most amazing fan base continue to keep us chasing this crazy dream.

There’s always going to be critics and other artists that don’t like what we do. We just turn the negativity into fuel, and it increases our drive to be the best we can possibly be as a brand and as a musician. We like to say, “we won’t be outworked”, and so far, we haven’t been.

Unsigned, independent, self-promoted averaging 130 shows a year, all while working a full-time job; I’d say we are hard-charging and full throttle!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Joel Gibson Jr. Music, LLC is the premier independent Country & Rock artist hailing from the PNW!

His engaging baritone vocals, humble demeanor, and charismatic stage presence set this vibrant performer apart from the other conventional acts.

When you book Joel for an event, you are getting class, as well as a top-tier vocalist and performer that will not disappoint.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My favorite book of all time is The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway, I truly love all his work. Pinterest is the app I use most because I love to cook and there’s some great stuff on there.

I’m a pretty simple guy! I just live my life and make the best of every minute I’m above ground. Family time, road trips, listening to music, and riding my Harley are my favorite things to do outside of performing that brings me joy.
