Today we’d like to introduce you to David Schwartz.
Hi David, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My career began when I was 18. I had just moved out of my parent’s house and into a fraternity. I don’t think I had even been living on my own for a month when I started to have existential crises about what I was going to study, what kind of career I wanted, and who I wanted to be. One day, I was tasked by the social team to play music at one of our fraternity parties. I was just playing music off of my phone but I vividly remember that instead of all of the girls coming, taking our booze, and leaving, they came, they drank, they danced, and they stayed. It wasn’t long after that when I went to my first big festival and after that, I realized that not only could DJing be a career, it could be an extremely lucrative and exciting path. I became obsessed and spent my entire life savings on DJ gear and the grind began.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has certainly not been a smooth road. There have been ups and downs and challenges every year. But in March of 2020 the pandemic hit, and music and events stopped entirely. Not a month later, in April, my garage was broken into, and almost all of the gear I had acquired over the course of my career was stolen right from under our noses. It was devastating and it felt like there was no way we would be able to recover let alone survive a hit like that. Fortunately, we did have insurance, and we were able to get a lot back. But we also had to bide our time and wait for the pandemic to get to a point where events could legally take place. I had to get the worst job of my entire life, just to make it through to the other side, but I am thankful I did what I had to do to keep the dream alive. We are now at a point where we are stronger, more resilient, and better positioned in the market than ever.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Orion Entertainment?
We provide DJ/MC, and Photobooth services for weddings, nightlife, corporate and private events. In this day and age, “everyone is a DJ”. When it comes to providing a top-tier entertainment service, we have to set ourselves apart by helping our clients organize and plan their events, direct, inform and guide their guests and act as a master of ceremonies, and of course, provide a real authentic DJ service. All of our artists mix music, have experience in nightlife and know how to rock a party. They don’t just slap on a playlist, hit automix and let the algorythms do the work for them. In a world where anyone can go to the store and purchase the equipment to achieve an inferior result. We have to let our talent shine and our professional skills set us apart.
