Exploring Life & Business with Taylor Daniels of Elysian Beauty Bar and Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Daniels.

Hi Taylor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started lashing as a side hustle when I was 18 to make more money while I was in undergraduate studying pre-dental, I wanted to build myself as a lash artist before dental school so then I would still be able to work while in graduate school. Once COVID hit and we were in our stay-at-home order I took that time to really focus on my technique and build my skills as a lash artist in hopes I would be able to drop one of the two other jobs I had. As soon as we were cleared to begin working again, the demand for eyelash extensions were CRAZY and I actually didn’t end up returning to either one of my jobs that I had prior to the COVID outbreak. Lashing became my full-time job and not only did I fall in love with lashing and my clientele but I also loved the freedom I was able to have while working for myself. No more asking for PTO and waiting to get it approved, no more super early work mornings or extremely late nights. I also was making more money than I was making between two jobs, so financial freedom soon became something I was familiar with. Now I am 22, with a full-time lash business that services and educates others. I actually began adding more to my services including tooth gems, tooth whitening, body contouring and mentorships! I will have a storefront with booth rentals by January 2023.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This definitely has not been a smooth road, especially being young and not really understanding the importance of money management. I had to learn very quickly if I was going to work for myself, I needed to learn how to not impulsively spend and understand that all the money I make is NOT profit. Reinvesting into yourself is key to growing your business! Being self-employed can also be difficult when there are slow months with clientele because you can’t necessarily predict what months will be slow or not, so you always have to be prepared for the worse no matter how booked you normally are!

We’ve been impressed with Elysian Beauty Bar and Spa, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Many people know me as Minkedw.Tay, I recently just joined my two businesses under one name as I will be opening a storefront in 2023 and it will be easier to market for my grand opening on my instagram with more followers and engagement. Elysian Beauty will be a beauty bar that consists of many different services for our clients to be pampered with and we also will be having suites for rental to give more entrepreneurs and stylist an opportunity to promote their work and build their small business! I am most proud of the growth in my brand, as I never had the idea to make lashing from my living room as a side hustle become my full-time career.

For now as I am in the works of getting everything together for my storefront, it is just me running Elysian Beauty where I offer lash extension services and training, tooth gems, tooth whitening, body contouring & mentorships!

  • Hybrid Full-Set $125
