Exploring Life & Business with Tamara Mathews of Mom Bodies Matter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Mathews.

Hi Tamara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a Mommy of four gorgeous human beings! Why or how could I ever look into a mirror and not feel comfortable? But I did… My children loved me, and I loved me, but I didn’t love the body I lived in, and the pressure of society for women to maintain a certain image didn’t make it any better.

One day, I looked into a mirror and made a decision to change this mindset and I did. My love for my children needed to match my love for myself, whether slim, thick, or otherwise. I needed confidence, and self-love, and knowing my worth did not equate to being “perfect”. The content of my character and heart outshines my physical image, and I am proud of that.

My active lifestyle is a personal journey for myself about health and self-care. After unknowingly inspiring many others to follow and implement active lifestyles, it became clear to me that Tamara had more to offer because MOM BODIES MATTER!

Mom Bodies Matter, LLC was established in November 2020, and surprisingly just 11 days after the official launch, I had a mild stroke. By God’s grace, I was able to fully recover with no permanent physical damage. Knowing the effort that I put forth into being healthy, I was devastated and shocked that this could happen to me.

After the initial shock, it only added more fuel to my fire of inspiring others and being a positive light in the lives of other women and men alike to be healthy, promote self-love, and protect the only bodies we have to live in mentally and physically.

Fast forward to 2022, I continue to raise awareness by being an advocate for a healthy lifestyle through social media platforms, such as TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram, my business website offers fit accessories to kick-start your self-care journey, as well as pop-up shops and a recent vendor opportunity at the Ultimate Women’s Expo in Phoenix that was a huge success.

Mom Bodies Matter, LLC was inevitably created to celebrate the beauty of every woman. Whether you are a mother, will soon be a mother, or are considered a mother to someone who loves you. We have always been under a microscope to be perfect as if bringing life into the world wasn’t enough.

If you look into a mirror and your reflection is smiling back at you, that is what matters! Imperfect is authentically perfect!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not only have I experienced health crises during my journey as an entrepreneur, but there is little to no funding available for minority female business owners to survive.

Mom Bodies Matter has essentially survived through prayer, sweat, tears, sacrifice, and the support of family and friends.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mom’s Bodies Matter?
Mom Bodies Matter embraces the beauty of every woman through positive affirmations, well-being inspiration, and fitness accessories designed to assist in meeting personal self-care goals.

Products offered include waist trainers, jump ropes, workout apparel, and other sporting goods.

Mom Bodies Matter is proud to be the face of all women’s societal pressure, struggles, and insecurities and even more proud to be a light that promotes the natural glow that comes from within to accept oneself as being ENOUGH and simply encouraging self-preservation, which is most important!

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that most people may not know about me is that while growing my business, I am a hands-on mother in every way, continue to conquer struggles with my health, work full-time in the banking industry, personally ship out each product to every one of my customers, and plan and execute celebratory events often. Although I’m a busy woman, mom and entrepreneur…while some may view my life as being fulfilled, I still have days in which the reflection in my mirror may not be smiling back at me. Everything I do is to be a positive role model for my four children while creating a legacy that will last for generations, inevitably change lives and leave my mark in this world.
