Exploring Life & Business with Jade Miller of Little Flower Waxing & Skincare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Miller.

Hi Jade, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started back when I graduated college. I had this degree in science and healthcare realizing that the healthcare industry wasn’t where I wanted to be! I knew I wanted to help people take care of themselves and feel good (I am a nurturer at heart) and I knew I thrived one on one with people because I was empathetic.

So this leads me to enroll in a Massage Therapy program, which leads me to work in a spa, and want to continue on to get my Skin Care Therapist license. Through that, I was introduced to the world of waxing! It was such a different change of pace from the relaxing massages and facials I was used to giving. I was able to chat more with my customers and really get to know them.

There is instant gratification to waxing that draws both the waxer and the customers to it, come with hair, leave without that honestly so satisfying. But most importantly I get to help people through one of the most vulnerable choices they make of coming in, having to undress in front of someone who is a stranger for the first time and allowing them to pull out hairs!

Which is definitely not the most pleasant feeling! But I have been told by many that I bring a sense of ease to the room, I make people feel unapologetically comfortable in my room and I am gentler than other waxers they’ve been to. I’ve worked with all types of bodies and hair types because I want everyone to feel welcome and trust that I can give their bodies the result they deserve.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, I was born & raised in New Jersey and had been working and practicing there, working my way towards opening my own business. It is a lot harder out there to be successful on your own due to a lot more rules and regulations. But my husband had the opportunity to transfer to his job’s Tempe office and we took it as a chance to try somewhere new!

With that came the chance to leave the corporations, I worked for and try it on my own! It’s hard not knowing anyone around, starting with zero clientele and also not having friends and family around to help support you, but my husband is my number one supporter and I have met a lot of amazing people both in my industry and others running their own businesses so I haven’t felt so alone!

The east valley has an amazing network of young entrepreneurs that I just never found back home!

As you know, we’re big fans of Little Flower Waxing & Skincare. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Little Flower Waxing & Skincare is a full body waxing & body care studio that caters to all genders & all body sizes. I specialize mainly in Brazilian waxes, both male & female. I am gender-inclusive and body type inclusive. I never want someone to feel like they can’t get waxed because of who they are or how they look. I am located inside The Collab in San Tan Village Mall.

I have found some of the most gentle waxes and products on the market and combined with my skills and waxing techniques have earned me many times the compliment of being “a gentle waxer.” I thrive to make your wax as quick and painless as possible while getting every hair. I am very thorough.

My wax is vegan & hypoallergenic and I have used it on the most sensitive skin with great success. I only use hard wax for bikini/Brazilians and the face as it is more gentle on these delicate areas. I sometimes use soft wax on larger body areas such as legs or back but I always evaluate skin sensitivity first.

I include Skincare in my name because I strive to bring skincare to the body. Everyone is trained in my field to treat the face, but you can have the same issues on your body too, breakouts, pigmentation/darkening of the skin, wrinkles, and lost elasticity, so I have made it my goal to focus on body care alongside my waxing.

I aim to educate and inform people on how they can take care of all of their skin! (It’s our largest organ and definitely does not stop at just the face!). All of my products are also vegan & nontoxic, both in my treatments and in the retail options I recommend for at-home care.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
That businesses take time! I’ve learned to enjoy the process!

We all have this grand picture in our heads of what our businesses will someday be.

But we are forever learning and adapting and embracing that has allowed me to enjoy being a business owner without it overshadowing the actual waxing experience, which is where all the magic really happens!
