Exploring Life & Business with Erica McQuown of Wellness Transcended

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica McQuown.

Hi Erica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It started when I found out I had a condition called PCOS, the leading cause of infertility. The regular medical doctors didn’t have many options for me other than fertility medicine when I was ready to conceive. They certainly didn’t believe that it was a condition that was reversible.

I set out to prove them wrong. I started using the medicine that wasn’t supposed to work. Mainly having to do with diet lifestyle. I met my first Ayurvedic doctor then and he gave me some herbs.

Fast forward a couple of years and I had started diving into the philosophy of yoga and even went to the Himalayas When I was pregnant with my firstborn daughter. The ancient sciences were helping me to be able to live a productive peaceful life.

Ayurveda is the sister science to yoga, and so I started to become interested in this. I officially started school when my oldest daughter was six months old. I was determined that others would be able to heal their own bodies and experience the health that I had.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a slow road. I have been doing this all while growing my family. I now have three beautiful girls. And so I’ve structured my business around being primarily a mother, secondarily trying to share this knowledge and help clients gain health.

I officially started seeing clients outside of clinical internship just three months before the pandemic hit. It was actually perfect because I had wanted to work from home and in 2020 everyone started becoming really comfortable with doing consultations through zoom.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in helping others rearrange their lives so that their lifestyle supports health and wellness. Most of the people I work with have some sort of chronic condition, autoimmune or hormonal issues. Those that are not easily fixed through a pill. I work over the course of a year and I say that the only steps we need to take are our one percent improvement towards the ideal each day.

I am most proud that by the end of the year of working together my clients are able to have the confidence to know that they can continue this work because they know themselves and their bodies so well.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I have direct experience with working through many chronic illnesses and so it’s not theoretical, it’s experiential. I’ve seen the results reproduce so many times, no matter how much someone doubts the process I am able to speak from the conviction that the process of healing is possible
