Exploring Life & Business with Alexandria Rizik of Poetic Wines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Rizik.

Hi Alexandria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started Poetic Wines during quarantine. I’ve always been passionate about wine and learning about the different kinds, and during the Covid lockdown, I wanted to launch my own business. I’m a writer and I wanted something to reflect that, so Poetry in a Bottle was born! Is there a better combination than writing and wine?

I come from a big Armenian family and my great-grandparents were survivors of the genocide. They had a vineyard in the Caucasus mountains that was destroyed during the massacre. I think that is where my urge to carry on a legacy of winemaking came from.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m a big believer in you learn as you go. Success comes from being hands-on and doing the work. It’s never a smooth road, things always come up. But like I said, you learn as you go. I’m lucky to have such a great distributor, Jason Kramer from Barrel to Bottle, who has helped me a great deal along the way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Poetic Wines is a wine company I launched during quarantine. Poetry in a Bottle is the first red blend I released this last year. I’ll be releasing a Sauvignon Blanc in 2022. The support I received from the local restaurants, wine bars, etc., has been amazing. Arizona companies really know how to stick together. Not only do I love the product itself, but I’m so proud of the beautiful label. The artwork on it was designed by an artist from Mexico and I used one of my own poems on the back of the label.

This wine isn’t just for people who love wine, but for anyone that loves the experience, wine brings–bringing people together over wining, dining, and good conversation.

As of December 2021, it is available at Sorso, Evo, Brix, Liquor Vault, Torch Cigar Bar, and many more places coming up! It is available online as well at

Any big plans?
I’m so excited for the future of this company as it grows and expands. We’ll be releasing a Sauvignon Blanc in 2022 and will also be hitting other markets outside of Arizona, like Vegas, California, and more. I’m really excited to see more people enjoying the wine and having it available at new places. This company is my baby, and I’ve put a lot of love into it.
