Daily Inspiration: Meet Viviana Garcia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Viviana Garcia.

Hi Viviana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always wanted to work in the art field. Growing up I was always drawing, painting, dancing, taking pictures; just doing something creative. In high school, I decided that oi wanted to get a degree in art and attended college with a different field in mind. After gaining my first degree I decided to go back to art and received my AAS in Fine Arts. During college, I learned more about photography. I learned to like taking photos but not as much as I love drawing. After some research, pondering, and indecisiveness I finally opened up my Etsy shop where I can sell my art and photography prints. I stuck to it and made sure to not take any negative comments to heart in order to keep going; which is how I got to where I am today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has had their ups and downs but I something kept telling to keep going that it was the start. Some struggles I’ve came across are related mostly with communication. I leaned that in order for this to work I have to reach out and branch out. To get out of my comfort zone and taking risks, even if they are scary. I have to believe in myself and realized that not everyone will be as supportive as others.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I say I am an illustrator, graphic designer, photographer, maybe even a visual artist to connect them all together; but I am also a businesswoman. I’ve realized that I do so much that I can’t pinpoint 1 specific title. I tend to specialize in drawing for sure though since that is where is all starts. I have an Etsy where I sell stickers for the most part but am starting to branch out and do other stationery items as well as cups and apparel. I say as of right now I’m known for the fan art stickers that I sell but also my style of art. I’m most proud of starting my Instagram account and my Etsy shop. I say what sets me apart from others is that I don’t stick to one thing and that I tend to make items for fandoms that do not reach a super big audience like celebrities do.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
Risk-taking is a scary thing but as long as you have a good gut feeling or good intuition on it, I say go for it. In the long run, it might work out because we may never know if we don’t try. I believe we all take major risks not matter how small. For me, a major risk was starting to sell things. I didn’t think I would sell anything but when I had my first purchase that gave me confidence to keep going and to grow. Something was better than nothing.
