Daily Inspiration: Meet Shawnte Hernton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawnte Hernton.

Shawnte, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story begins in Grade school. I remember going shopping with my mom and sister every Saturday and we would be given a small budget to shop with. I would spend my money on either a piece of clothing, shoes or accessories. I would then spend my Sundays carefully and strategically picking out my outfits for the week. In during so, I was able to find different ways to wear the same item. I realized that as long as I wore a shirt or pair of pants with a different accessory or different pair of shoes that it would completely change the look of the outfit.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge that I face sometimes is putting together photoshoots. There is a lot of work that goes into it. The exciting part is seeing the images at the end but it takes a ton of hard work to put it together. It starts with having the vision, then finding the right people for each different aspect of the shoot, working around everyone’s schedules and hoping everything comes out the way you imagined and that the vision was delivered.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I offer a variety of onsite and virtual styling options for personal and business clients. My services include Personal Shopping, Closet Audits as well as Wardrobe Styling and Creative Directing for photoshoots. I have also just added a few new popular services that include Personally Styled looks, Online Boutique Styling and Behind the Scenes photos.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Do something that is fun and doesn’t feel like work. If you have a special talent or skill, share it because someone may be waiting for it. Also social media is your free learning guide. I have learned and gained so much free knowledge that has helped tremendously in growing my business.
