Today we’d like to introduce you to Model Behavior.
Hello Model Behavior. We appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Model Behavior started back in 2017 as just an idea. We didn’t start making clothes until 2018 because we wanted to learn screen printing and embroidery. We had just graduated high school. We didn’t have money for manufacturing. Throughout that 1 year of learning, we bought our first screen printing machine, an embroidery machine, and got to work. We released our first collection in 2019. 2020 came around fast, and that’s when corona hit, and we decided to do more releases because we were at home not working. We started releasing more and more til this day. Almost every couple of months, we do a new collection. When we release clothes, we don’t like fast fashion, so we try to make our clothes timeless. So 20-40 years from now, someone will find model behavior and think to themselves that they found the craziest piece of vintage clothing/accessories because I know when I used to thrift heavily, that’s how I used to feel when I found a nice vintage shirt I liked a lot. We are now located in PHX/LA. We have a screen printing/studio space in PHX where we fulfill orders for others, record music, and print our clothes. We are making a move to LA soon to further our reach!
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Everything isn’t a smooth road. It was a lot of trial and error, especially with printing clothes, not knowing what to do or how to do it, and just going off YouTube videos and google. Printing our first tee was easy, but the tees after were a mess because we were doing multiple things wrong; for example, we wanted to be using plastisol ink, and we were using water-based the whole time, which caused plenty of issues.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We both do different things, but they all tie together. I (@iammikeroots) went to school for graphic design. I do websites, cover art, print ads, logos, etc. Andre Guirguis (@andreguirguis) is an audio engineer and producer in his off time. I, Michael Roots, am known for the brand (@modelbehaviorus), making ads and cover art. Andre Guirguis (@andreguirguis) is known for his high-quality, amazingly structured beats and sounds. We are most proud of this brand because we have built this from the ground up with our own two hands, and we think that our quality garments and amazing collections set us aside from others. Many people are just here for “fast fashion,” and we are creating a legacy!
How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
People can work/collaborate/support us by following us @modelbehaviorus, @iammikeroots, @andreguirguis, going to the site in our bio, purchasing some pieces from our newest collection, hitting us up for some production, or engineering, or cover art, websites, ads, etc.!
