Daily Inspiration: Meet Jen Beverly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Beverly.

Hi Jen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2017 I retired from the corporate world and decided to pursue my passion for cookie decorating. I lived in Southern California then and built my little business of baking and decorating custom cookies. In 2019 my first grandchild was born in Arizona, and, as you would imagine, I fell instantly in love with this sweet baby. In 2021, my husband and I relocated from California to Arizona to spend more time with the family, particularly the baby. This allowed me to expand my business beyond California, Arizona, and across the US. Every December since 2020, I’ve hosted a virtual decorating class for families of the Wounded Warriors. I feel so honored to be able to create fun and delicious cookies for events such as baby showers, weddings, birthdays, etc. I also enjoy teaching others how to create beautiful cookies themselves.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Although my cookie decorating journey has not produced much in the way of obstacles, I have found that each order is unique and challenges me to learn new techniques and create designs I would never have imagined I could create. I am part of many cookie decorator groups where we share ideas and techniques and get feedback on obstacles we face.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I would never in a million years consider myself an artist, but I have always felt there was a creative side to my personality. Throughout my life, I always enjoyed projects that brought out my creative side, but that seemed to be somewhat limited when working in the corporate world. Now that I have my own business, many of my customers will give me an idea of what they would like but allow me to put my creative spin on it. It is so much fun to see things come to life and to get the feedback from my customers that everyone loved the cookies.

Can you talk to us about happiness and what makes you happy?
FAMILY! I have a very tight-knit family! We spend as much time together as possible, and now having the first grandchild in the family, our gatherings are much more fun and entertaining. The baby, who is 2 1/2 years old now, eats up all the attention and enjoys dancing and singing for all of us. The joy we all experience when we are together is priceless!
