Daily Inspiration: Meet Ian Simon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Simon.

Ian, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a former professional athlete turned personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach. I have over a decade of training experience.

My former company, The InstaBooty, was a brand I began back in 2018 but, due to an unfortunate trademark battle between Instagram and I, I had to rebrand my fitness business to the new name, ReckFit: Total Body Fitness.

This actually was a blessing in disguise! I was pigeonholed into my booty Bootcamps for a long time. Now, my fiancé and I, Brittany, have refocused our efforts into creating a bigger fitness brand. We are also dropping our own app soon which will be a combination of MyFitnessPal and Facebook.

We really want to focus our attention with our online training business moving forward. We love our bootcamps and hope to purchase our own facility in the near future!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This past year, we actually were in a legal battle with Instagram over our former business name, The InstaBooty. I was pretty upset that we would have to drop the name but it was truly a blessing in disguise. We are now able to expand our audience, reach more people through our new online training platform, and create new and improved programs than can help a wide array of people.

Booty building has become very popular over the last five years or so, but I also wanted to get back to training athletes, men, kids and more. Our brand is about helping people who want to become the best versions of themselves.

You’ll always have struggles. That’s life, it’s our job to navigate those peaks and valleys. We’re never too high or too low. We adjust on the fly and I think that’s why we have thrived not only through the Covid era, but continue to grow. We’re always evolving and rolling with the punches.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
ReckFit: Total Body Fitness was created to help people become the best version of themselves through fitness and our amazing community and network of people who always want the best for themselves and each other.

We specialize in men’s and women’s transformation coaching, women’s booty bootcamps and athletic strength and conditioning. We’re very well known for our Glute training that put us on the map four years ago!

What separates us from everyone else is out relentless ambition to help people become better. However that may look. Whether it be through our training, referring people to our network of doctors, physical therapists, entrepreneurial/business coaches. We do it all. We truly help our people inside and outside of the gym and prepare them for life. Not just diets and workouts.

What I’m most proud of is how supportive our community is. We have amazing people who help motivate, encourage and empathize with one another. This isn’t just a class you take. You’re making an improvement in your lifestyle. You’re a part of something bigger than you. We pride ourselves on helping our community and the people in it. We make better people. Not just bodies.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
As former Bruce Arians would say, “no risk-it, no biscuit.” You have to be willing to roll the dice professionally.

We have put ourselves out there time and time again to big brands and we have been able to work with huge companies like:

Reign Body Fuel
International Sports Science Association

We’re also in the process of releasing our own app and looking to open our own new training facility. In this uncertain time, with just how the world is, we’re taking a big financial risk. But it’s all worth it. In order to scale our business even more, we have to be willing to take on bigger projects. Our goal is to be the premier group training facility in the state. We’re looking for investors and funding, but want to take on as much responsibility as we can in our own.

  • $350 for unlimited group training (monthly)
  • $225 for Express Group Training (monthly)
  • $500 Private Personal Training (monthly)
  • ReckFit App $9.99 a month
