Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Rials.
Hi Felicia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
A Philadelphia native brings her east coast vibes to the west coast. I grew up in a salon environment my entire life. My grandmother was a stylist, my mom’s dad a barber, and my mom as well. After living in Scottsdale, AZ for over 13 years I moved to la! My grandma (also her biggest supporter passed away)is the reason I went for it! Working in fashion for over 5 years, she knew what my true passion was and after she passed I had to do it for her!
Felicia refused to settle for mediocre, she wanted to do this for her grandma. She had the privilege to assist a celebrity hairstylist, in-salon and on outside jobs as well. This is where she learned how to create that effortless natural look with invisible layers, creating texture and movement that every girl wants. From Malibu beach hair to red carpet looks, Felicia can do it all.
Having worked with celebrities like Jaime Alexander, Jennifer Cheon Garcia, Cindy Crawford, Bella Podaras, Bachelor Season 23, Tracy Shapoff, Fitness model Whitney Johns, Lauren Silverman, Alyshia Ochse, Allisan Porter, Samantha Hemsworth, Mary Sarah, and members of the band Phoenix to name a few.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all, moving to LA was the most difficult thing I have ever done.
I had a 1-year-old baby girl, a stepson in Phoenix, my husband had to find a new job in LA and I was getting paid peanuts to assist. We all know the cost of living in Los Angeles.
I kept on trucking we had a lot of help along the way and a lot of support from a family which helped a lot. The hair industry in LA is a hard industry to crack and you have to have a backbone!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a celebrity hairstylist. I specialized in cutting and styling for) years and now that I’m back in Phoenix.
I specialize in cutting and lived in color. I’m most proud of my courage to not get sucked up in the industry that is the industry today. I refuse to be something I am not. I keep it so real and genuine that I want to break the mold.
The one thing that sets me apart is that I want to break the mold, I don’t want to fall into this world of photoshopped hair photos and fake Instagram “reality” it’s surely not a real world and I want to set a boundary on it.
What matters most to you?
My family!! I wouldn’t be where I am without them.
