Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin Sparks and Sarah Pardi.
Thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Sarah, my co-host and I, love true crime – we actually met at a meet up for a different true crime podcast years ago. We hit it off immediately, and connected over true crime and our similar sense of humor. We would often mention how fun a podcast would be, and one day, we just went for it. We went to brunch to plan Luminol, and the rest is history!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a fairly smooth road, with a few hiccups. We struggled in the beginning with getting our sound right, with deleting ‘uhm’ from our vocabulary, and most of all- we struggled with learning how to stop interrupting each other when we got excited during recording. We had to find our groove, but we are certainly proud of every step along the way! It’s been hard work – much harder than we imagined- but very much worth it. We are so thankful we have a platform to bring attention to cases that need it, and to connect with listeners.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We host a true crime podcast, on which we try to cover cases not widely covered on other podcasts/shows. We balance the heavy topics of crime with light humor and dad jokes, to end each episode. We are proud of the research we do regarding each case, and thankful that we have a platform to share victims stories. We also choose a theme for each episode, which is different from most true crime podcasts we have come across. I, personally, am incredibly proud of the work we do to tell stories that focus on the victims and stories that bring light to issues and injustices- such as domestic violence, violence against women- in countries all over the world.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
We have relied heavily on social media to network with other podcasts and with listeners.
