Conversations with Weston Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Weston Smith.

Hi Weston, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I’m a synth-pop musician creating music for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been interested in fantasy, so I try to incorporate that into my writing. I also always touch on mental health struggles and really listen to how I’m feeling when I’m recording new songs. I think the music reflects how I’m feeling at the time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a long journey, so many bumps along the way. But as of right now, my quest has smoothed out and I’ve been able to breathe a little bit (just a little bit).

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Creating synth music has been at the top of my list for years. I’ve fallen in love with playing anything on a synthesizer. My compositions tend to range from chaotic to calm. I honestly don’t always know how to directly specify what kind of music I make when someone asks. It’s all just a part of who I am and I think that’s how it should be. I’ve been on a roll with new tunes, releasing at least one new song every month. Right now, I’m preparing for the release of my new album DUNGEON, which comes out in full on January 7th of the new year. I’m particularly excited to share those new tunes.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family has always had an influence on what I create, everyone plays a different instrument! And my private saxophone teacher really started my journey for the instruments and music I love today. My friends also drive me to do more, try new things, and show just how supportive and loving people can be. Really thankful for them.
