Conversations with Sophie Fran Record

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophie Fran Record.

Hi Sophie Fran, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started creating content on Instagram when I was 14 years old! I found such a love for capturing moments of things around me, that told people about who I was, through a picture. As my account grew, my style for editing and for formatting changed, and evolved for the better. I realized that I had a great eye for color and how to make aesthetically pleasing content. Which is where I’m now today! I would define my personal creative style, as something vintage, homey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh! I mean social media is brutal, you hear and see it all the time. The comparison game, how many followers and likes you have, vs how many she has. Why other people are out traveling the world and you’re stuck working a minimum wage job. The catch to being creative is working with what you have, you might have limited resources which just makes the challenge even better when it comes to creating content. Its something you work at and progress in no matter your limitations.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I look at the world through a nostalgic lens. The future is always evolving, but the past remains stagnant. Which means in that there are so many secrets and stories to tell. I like to convey that with how I edit my photos, and through shooting my adventures on a 35 mm canon ae-1 program. this livens the photos more than any digital camera will. Though that, I think it makes my photos stand out. Theres not any amount of editing you could do to get the quality of a film photo. Plus, thats hard work! Shooting on a 35mm you have to tailor your adjustments with each photo! Im proud that I don’t just press a button on my phone to take photos.
