Conversations with Nicole Moan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Moan.

Hi Nicole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
20+ years of experience creating art, including wearable ceramic corsets, 3-dimensional wall sculptures incorporating mixed media, innovative up-cycled displays, and applications.

Specialist in wearable art in the form of ceramics and fabric. She used education in mechanics and welding to generate a unique creative process for both her art and in the mentoring of young artists and contemporaries.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I learned a lot along the way. Protect yourself and your art from all kinds of things. Copyright and so on. Not to be so hard on myself. When something doesn’t go as planned it helps you better yourself and work with others. Teamwork with other artists and galleries can feel daunting but you only limit yourself, the worst they could say is no. There are alot of fish in the sea at least at the moment.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Specialize in custom tile and wearable ceramic corsets. Working with stylists and creating custom pieces for each person with my ceramic corsets to complete looks. Photo shoots and runway shows push me to create work that grabs the viewers. Custom tile can include many things from backsplashes to business embolisms for entryways.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
