Conversations with the Inspiring Tamara Parisio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Parisio.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tamara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Feeling unseen and unheard, in childhood, I loved to observe—watching scenarios and outcomes. I recognized that most people don’t listen, people have preconceptions, and they come to things with their own agendas that get in the way of understanding and thwart real possibility. I was always enchanted with the power of words since growing up, ironically on Webster Avenue. I learned that wordsmithing an intentional script is key to realizing anything you dream in life, allowing you to play out your highest potential. Every award-winning act is supported by an incredible script.

With my proprietary process, Script Your Shift™, I help others learn how to make the most of every scene in the leading role of their success. You can Script Your Shift™ into stardom for yourself, your business, your brand, your life.

I recently introduced my #ScriptYourShift™ Storytelling Cards (thanks to Miranda’s Creatives LLC and Identibrands by Proforma) that can be used to assist the process of creating your script. It is a profound, playful approach to a task that often feels daunting. As I say, “The most important stories we tell are the stories we tell ourselves.”

With this process, I assisted local talent, Anita Miranda, to step into her starring role as The Official Lipstick Reader™. By branding her to align with the star-studded status she desired, she aligned with the luxury brands and celebrity clients who now call on her for entertaining enlightenment. I defined and named her process Kissmet™ to reflect her unique and proprietary forensic, intuitive, and digital readings. Over the course of a year, Script Your Shift™ took The Official Lipstick Reader™ from brand definition and design, to stand online and on-site, to expand presence with her luxe audience, and now to command expertly with her award-winning performance.

As a creative director and strategic wordsmith, I crafts scripts for companies, solopreneurs/entrepreneurs and authors/speakers to support the most predictable and productive outcome of every event, taking business and projects across boundaries into opportunity. Having worn many hats, I bring experience from multiple industries and disciplines. This inspires inventive and innovative ideas for projects.

I am an award-winning (Clio, ADDY, EFFIE, Creative Excellence) marketing, branding, and advertising executive with a talent for developing brands, image, and core propositions to reflect the depth of a business intention. From concept development to reframing the situation for optimal perspective, I write the most compelling script to get the required results. One talent is to take assertions that are full of mean and turning them into conversations that are meaningful.

I cut my teeth in the world of David Ogilvy. O&M advertising where I honed the skill to create a buzz while creating award-winning work for Mattel. I also hung my hat at BBDO and Sheggeby Advertising. Spent some time in Entertainment. Cable Music Channel — production. Went on to Marketing at Teleflora (a Roll Company) and with Gillete/Jafra, then Sebastion/Wella. Adding project management, product development, P&L, sales and promotion to the mix alongside advertising to round out my skill set and understanding.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always struggles. Every failure feels like a crushing defeat that makes me question my self-worth and purpose. Here are a few key lessons of the many that continue to emerge.

Focus.

Sometimes, when you try to be and do everything, you become nothing, or a lot less than all. While I have worn multiple hats, it is rarely possible to do that and meet every request and bring a success. My toolset is incomplete and my skill across all disciplines is far from mastery. I can be a chef and sous chef and wait tables and bus dishes, but that dilutes my genius. Focus on strengths. I realize that sometimes I cannot reach far enough fast enough—though I give my all in every attempt.

Persist.

Continue to seek the most productive outcome in every endeavor… still, you may not meet with the delight of complete satisfaction. Course-corrections don’t immediately lead to smooth sailing. Resources are often slim to none and new demands came on so strong, it can be like drinking from a fire hose. However, when asked to step up to the plate, you gotta give it all ya got! Especially with a startup gig. The rush to get on base often requires concurrent planning and execution. Stutter steps happen along the way as the path becomes clarified and players come in and out of the game.

Ask for help.

Delegating when there is nowhere to turn can be difficult. Still, ask. There is always someone who can do what you need to be done — or someone who knows someone who can do something to assist. Sometimes you realize that not everything is necessary.

All of this happens, personally and professionally. In every situation, there is an opportunity to deliver an opportunity to grow, learn, and expand. Realizing that fortifies the will to forge ahead. Celebrate successes so that you build your mojo to go forward. Create your experiences… journaling and writing will be your journey as you Script Your Shift™ into the spotlight of success.

Mostly, we have to be kind to one another. Life is tough enough, and we are all in this time-space continuum together. So, be nice. Just sayin’.

What should we know about Parisio & Co? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
For clients, I validate and amplify their core message. Script Your Shift™ gives one permission to be center of their universe and to serve others from there. The world does revolve around you, and you, and you, and me… we are co-starring in a bigger picture.

Check out how local talent, Donna Sparaco, takes on her leading lady role as Daily Dose A Donna™. By branding her to align with the expert status of her experiences of love and loss, she grew her tribe. She serves them well with her process Set Your Dial to Joy™ reflecting her unique and proprietary approach. Additionally, I coined the phrase Mourning Sex™ for Donna’s efforts to address love, loss, and lust for widows and widowers.

I like to be the “First Fan” … not always number one, but FIRST. It is a joy to see others step into their starring role, spread their message, realize their soul’s calling, and share their talents with those who crave that interaction. It is rewarding to empower others. Expression feels like a gift that flows through me.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Networking is a continuous work in progress for me. I am an introvert. I love meeting new people and enjoy smaller groups. I also appreciate when interaction is facilitated rather than showing up to a happy hour style program.

I have enlisted coaches and mentors, I have joined mastermind groups, and I have requested many “informative interviews” to learn about the possibilities available plus those I might create. The greatest impression from all of this is that I must define my vision or it will be defined for me.

Just like the saying goes, People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person, and what to learn from them. When someone is in your life for a reason, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.

That is how the coaching and mentorship relationships have been for me. And, as much as I seek assistance, I seek to assist. In answering the questions for another, I find and hone my contribution to the world.
