Conversations with the Inspiring Paige Tonz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Tonz.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Paige. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up as an athlete. I went from practice to practice, game to game, sometimes changing in the car on the way and maybe getting a snack in between. As a competitive athlete, playing club sports and then moving into playing Division I softball, I was my own worst critic. Being so hard on myself really had an effect on the way I performed as an athlete. I feel like I never reached my full potential until it was almost too late. When I started to think about how I wanted to live my life, I knew I wanted to have an impact on girl athletes on the mental side of the game. I knew I had to share with these girls what I learned through mental training and how it changed everything for me athletically and personally. I started by mentoring just one girl and now, I have mentored and coached over 100 girls on the mental side of the game in The Mental Game Mentorship program I created specifically for girl athletes wanting to build REAL confidence.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many other women starting their own businesses, I have a day job. My calendar looks INSANE because I’m doing double the work day in and day out. It can be exhausting, but I know that in a year, it will all be worth it. The other main struggle is the doubt that constantly creeps in. My biggest piece of advice is to surround yourself with other mentors who are going through this journey or are ahead of you in this journey because having the constant support and love is a game changer.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a girl’s sports mentor + coach. I am empowering girl athletes. I help girl athletes level up on and off the field or court through mental training and hard work where they can create their own REAL self-confidence. I created an individual and team program called The Mental Game Mentorship. In the program the girl athletes are learning how to build self-confidence, overcome failure, embrace mistakes, goal setting and dreaming, routines, building strong relationships, positive self-talk, and so much more.

I am most proud of the mindset growth the girls in my program are experiencing. Receiving texts, messages, and calls from the parents about the success and strides their daughters are making lights me up. My story is unique, yet relatable to girl athletes. I have been through the same experiences and challenges which allows me to be the best mentor possible for these girls.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
ABSOLUTELY! My experiences growing up have had an immense impact on my success today. I am a true believer that playing sports shapes us in so many ways to be successful later in life. Some examples are perseverance, collaboration, motivation, time management, and just the will to never give up and dream BIG.
