Conversations with the Inspiring Erin Elizabeth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Elizabeth.

Erin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
From a young age, being fashionable was always something I strived to be. For the majority of my childhood and early adolescence, I was pretty underdeveloped. I looked lightyears younger than my friends. I was the teenage girl sneaking into the children’s section of the department store to find pants and dresses that would fit. I wished I could dress like the other girls my age and searched high and low to find similar styles that matched the trends my friends and classmates were wearing. From this experience, I learned how to search for the “perfect” item. As I matured and entered into my adulthood, I still strove to stay up to date with the latest styles. This grew into a love and passion for fashion. I love to share my love for style with others. That is why I created my blog, Wink, and a Twirl while attending graduate school. What started out as a hobby, soon grew into one of my greatest joys. I love sharing my current fashion finds and outfit ideas with my followers. It allows me to share my creative side, as well as help other women to feel empowered and beautiful. I truly believe that what you wear is a form of art. It allows you to express yourself and try new things. It can boost confidence, and with that new confidence, trigger new relationships. Style has given me so much confidence throughout the years and empowered me to try new things and enter into new experiences I might not have given a try otherwise. Style goes beyond the walls of your closet. It allows you to express who you are. Own it!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Deciding to become an influencer and blogger has not always been smooth sailing. What I thought would be super simple, turned out to be quite complex. However, I am always up for a challenge! While I am not a “full-time blogger”, I do spend a large portion of my time doing blog-related things. From styling outfits to scouting locations, photoshoots to editing images, answering emails and staying engaged on social media, it can sometimes feel like a full-time job. But, when you are doing something you love and are passionate about, time is somewhat insignificant. For anyone thinking about jumping into the wonderful world of blogging, choose something you are passionate about! Everyone starts blogging about their own personal love of writing and content (fashion, travel, etc.). Never lose sight of the reason why you started your blog. It’s so easy to get caught up comparing your blog’s content to another. This will bring you down faster than quicksand. Instead, revel in the fact that you are the creator of your own masterpiece. You handpicked every aspect of your blog and what it represents. Be proud of what you created. Sure, work hard and build something great, but don’t ever lose sight of just how special your wonderful space is!

what should we know about Wink and a Twirl? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I run a blog called Wink and a Twirl. What started out as a hobby that I did in my free time during graduate school turned into a part-time job and passion. As I mentioned earlier, my love for fashion is the driving force behind what I do. I believe that a style is a tool that we can use to empower ourselves and build one another up as women!

If you were to go to my blog, you will see that I post about all things style, beauty, fitness, and life. While the majority of my content pertains to style, I do like to share my current beauty favorites, fitness routines and things that are on my heart and mind. As my blog continues to grow and develop, my goal is to focus on these areas even more.

I want my little space on the Internet to be a place where women can come to for not only style and beauty advice, but a place where they can follow along with my journey and know that all women go through similar things and share similar thoughts and insecurities. We are doing this crazy rollercoaster of life together!

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
From the moment I began blogging, I have met so many amazing influencers and fellow bloggers on social media. Instagram has been the largest platform for networking and connecting with brands, local venues, and other creative minds. I have met up with several local Scottsdale/Phoenix bloggers and have had the opportunity to become “in real life” friends. I just love the social community I am a part of. Everyone is so encouraging, forthcoming and supportive. I truly love all the relationships I’ve gained from blogging!
