Community Highlights: Meet Tanya Garr and Davina Godley of Flavors Plant Based Cuisine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanya Garr and Davina Godley.

Hi Tanya and Davina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Me and my wife decided to go plant-based about 4 years ago. From there, we like many others transitioning to this lifestyle still wanted to find a way to eat some of our favorite dishes just making them plant-based. We turned our kitchen into a laboratory and its been great ever since. We have become Phoenix’s first woman owned fully vegan food truck. We opened up right in the middle in COVID- 19 we’ve had the opportunity to serve hundreds of community members in the Phoenix area since. It’s our goal to not only deliver amazing PH-balanced, plant-based food made with love, but to promote health and positivity to help people eat to live their best life!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road thus far has not been easy! Trying to find a consistent crowd when COVID -19 is still relevant. We just show up and be consistent and pray that people show up.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Flavors Plant Based Cuisine?
The first ever black owned, woman owned and veteran owned vegan food truck has landed in central Phoenix and they’re whipping up delicious immune-boosting food for the community.

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it’s crucial now more than ever to protect your immune system — and what better way to do that than with fresh, organic plant-based cuisine.

Flavors, Phoenix’s first fully plant-based restaurant on wheels is doing just that. Having just opened in October 2020 and already serving over 1,000+ Phoenix community members, this organic, fresh, handcrafted, gut-healing take on convenient feel-good food is a great way to equip your body with the tools it needs to fight off inflammation and excess mucus in the body, which contributes greatly to disease, viruses and chronic illness.

“We believe that what you put in your body is your first line of defense — and It’s our mission, not only to provide our community with gut-healing, PH-balanced, immune boosting fuel, but to give them a new perception of vegan cuisine that helps them eat good, feel good and live a healthy life,” said Davina Co-owner of Flavors.

Flavors has attracted lines of people waiting to try their Asian-fusion, Mexican, Soul Food, and traditional American inspired menu items at several of Phoenix’s food truck hot spots. Although they’re always the only fully plant-based food truck on site, attendees are usually intrigued and excited to try the new plant-based menu items.

“People are often curious about how we make plant-based items taste so good. We always tell our customers that being vegan isn’t hard when the food is flavorful and tastes just like, if not better than, your favorite non-vegan foods. We’re not trying to convert anyone to being vegan… we just want you to know that plant-based foods can be flavorful and fun too! Plus, when you know you’re fueling your body with nutrient-rich ingredients that are great for healing your mind and body it makes things like mac-n-cheese, tacos and banana pudding taste that much better,” said Tanya co-owner of Flavors.

You can catch Flavors at local vendor/food truck events such as Curaleaf at Midtown or Greenwood Brewery on Roosevelt st. You can also check out their weekly schedule on Instagram to follow where their next stop is going to be. For catering, events and menu items visit or email
