Community Highlights: Meet Shantee Anderson of PurCoil

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shantee Anderson.

Shantee, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always wanted to be and Entrepreneur. In the cosmetology field so I went to school in 2017. This was the best decision I could have ever made but often felt that after I finished school that would be just something I said I completed. I ended up working as a mail carrier with the Post Office during the day in Chicago in the evenings I would do hair for almost 3 years and the entire time I felt like working for the Post Office was not where I was supposed to be.

I felt like I wasn’t walking in my purpose. My purpose was to help those who needed that extra put to feel and love beautiful. So when I moved here to Arizona I decided I wasn’t going back to the post office and work toward being a full time Loctician. I was very afraid but I was always told I have to believe in myself and just do it.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This road for me has not been easy. I moved to Arizona a little over a year ago and had 0 clientele. It was a battle for me to sit and think of o would have to go and work for someone or just keep striving to gain clientele. Before I moved from Chicago, I worked a full time job during the day and by night I was a hairstylist.

We’ve been impressed with PurCoil LLC , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started PurCoil back in 2017. I went from being Pure Vintage to Pure Vintology and then I thought of PurCoil LLC. This company that I’ve started is based off by background with being a hairstylist. I’m a licensed cosmetologist but for the most part, I choose to master every skill as a Loctician. What sets me apart of everyone else is that I don’t just do hair Im very passionate about my craft.

I’m very proud of what I’ve accomplished so far. I wasn’t always able to focus on this journey of being a business owner. Right now I mainly provide services such as loc maintenance, instant locs, micro locs, starter locs, kids locs, loc extensions, color service, press n curls, and more. Currently, I’m working on a mobile salon boutique. This will allow me to travel throughout the city to provide service. I will also be offering boutique fashions as well. This will also grant plenty of opportunities to host communities events such as giving back.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m very shy at times but over the years I e learned to more outspoken. This is been something I’ve struggled for a very long time. Also, I don’t think anyone knows but I love doing theatrical make up. My dream job was to be a mortician. Even if I could be a mortician I would provide.
