Check out Yvonne Wan’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvonne Wan.

Yvonne, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am a social cultural anthropologist with an interest in capturing moments of truth through my understanding of the world and subjects I study. I specialize in portrait art and recently started using my art for social good by launching a comic book featuring an autistic super hero and autistic talent to remove the stigma associated with autism, help kids feel like super heroes and save lives.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a social cultural anthropologist with an interest in capturing moments of truth through my understanding of the world and subjects I study. I specialize in portrait art using oil paint on canvas and studying subjects by direct observation. I capture their essence and soul through my works to portray their sense of being through my work. I do this to help immortalize my subjects and help the audience understand what it means to be. I recently started using my art for social good by launching a fictional comic book featuring an autistic super hero and autistic talent to remove the stigma associated with autism, help kids feel like super heroes and save lives.

The fictional comic book is unique in that is part of a social cause campaign to change people’s perception about autism to improve the quality of life for people affected by the condition. The social cause project includes a daily internship program where Douglas Hebert, certified art teacher and I coach the interns to help them fulfill their creative potential. We also hold community outreach events in different states to change the culture we live in today so that we can all respect one another regardless of perceived differences and reduce bullying in playgrounds. Bullying can scar children for life and so this is an important social cause that will improve the society we live in today. I hope to promote kindness and love through my campaigning and art.

What advice do you have for other artists?
My advice for all artists is to always follow your dreams!

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
